My dad passed and left me his cue from the when we used to play together in the 1990s. After some research, Ive found out that the cue he left me is the Meucci Cue of the Month #1.

Im not looking to sell it for sentimental reasons, but I am still curious if it has any real value. It has a brand new original shaft and the one he used.

I also used to play with what I have found to be an 84-3. Is it anything special?

These are some pictures of the ones Im talking about I found online;

I was also told that the Cue of the month was supposed to be limited to 500. I dont see any markings to tell me what number I have?

Is there a way to tell?

Your 84-3 is what is referred to as an "Original " Meucci. You'll notice that the logo on the butt is done in block letters. This means that the stick was
made before 1990 and because it is an 84 series was probably made in '84 or '85.
Your father's stick has the in scroll lettering. This means it was made in '90 or after.

Generally speaking ,"Originals"( those made before '90) are more desirable
on the market. But as it is only a two-pointer yours is on the slightly lower end of the market for ,"Originals."

if your father's cue is a ,"cue of the month," it is something special. It was probably made in 1991 and is a rarity. Take the rubber bumper off. It should be inscribed inside some number of 750 and the date.

With the market being the way it is and not knowing the condition of either, I would not attempt to put a value on either and suggest you do more research.

I noticed it was supposed to be from the mid 80s, but I am sure i got it brand new in 1991. I was 14 and beating most of the better league players at 14. The bar owner let me into his cue stick store and let me pick out any stick I wanted, I loved the coloring on this one. It was kind of a "Karate Kid" moment, where Miagi offer Daniel any one of his cars..... "Choose!!"

Thanks again for info on how to find out. Under the bumper its labeled "7/91" and "106/500". So now I know when it was made and what number it is! I wouldnt have ever looked for it there.

I emailed Meucci a picture of the actually stick and they are the ones that confirmed to me that it is a "Cue of the month #1".

Both sticks have been used, I see a few small lines/cracks in his. I labeled them in the pic..

ig it wee your Dads and he wanted you to have it, I would say it is priceless!!

value

Just to give you an idea on the Value of the cue of the month. I sold one just like it on ebay about 5 years ago for $450.00 I wish i would have just kept it.

I have the later version of the 84-3, which is the 95-8 and I love it. It's the best shooting Meucci I've shot with and I've shot quite a few over the years. It was also given to me by my Dad over 10 years ago for my birthday so I'd never sell it either. To me their 2 pointers seem to shoot better than their fancier cues.

I never knew about the Meucci cue of the month until tonight. Cool stuff.

Its funny, I loved playing with the 84-3 but I always LOVED my dads cues. At one point he had a $1000 Meucci cue for breaking and played with his "Cue of the month".

I havent played with the new "dot" shafts either. Are they worth it? I havent actually attempted to play pool with a real cuestick since the 90s.

I grew up in Michigan, moved to within 15 miles of Meucci in Mississippi and always wanted to stop by and check the place out, but never made it before I moved back home.
