Meucci Original ID help needed

it is a meucci E2. if the butt cap says meucci original, it was made around the mid to late 80's. my guess is, especially in the current market the value is not that high. the purchase price brand new in the mid to late 80's was $180. there is nothing in the cue to add any extra value other than the fact it's a meucci original. there are no points, no inlays, it is basically a shooters cue. i have seen much more ornate and desireable meucci selling for $500 and less. that is why i say i don't think the value will be that high. if you can get a hold of a copy of the blue book of pool cues you may get a better idea. by the way they aren't bad to play with, i know, i own the same one (bought it new fairfield, ct. around 88). as far as the crack goes, what is cracked? if it is just the ring there are a few cue repair guys who can fix it no problem. i had steve lomax fix one for me and i can't remember what he charged but it was not that much - under $50 i think. if the shaft itself is not cracked a reapir is possible and shouldn't be that bad. if the shaft is cracked the bill will be much higher. you can't buy those shafts anymore so that means you will have to have a shaft made by a cue maker or buy something like an ob1 or predator. there are companies out there who do make cheap knock off shafts that fit meucci for about $20 on ebay but i would stay away from those.

Thanks for the help on the Meucci original. It is just the ring on the shaft that is cracked. Other than that it looks to be in decent shape. Have a guy wanting to sell it to me. he said to make him an offer. Cue has been sitting for 14 years. in your oppinion If I can pick it up for $100 is it worth it. not looking for a collector item, just a solid playing cue for a reasonable price.

IMHO I don't think you would be happy with that stick. It is one of the cheaper and less attractive models that Meucci made. I have nothing against Meucci, I use a Meucci myself. If you go to E-bay you can find some really good deals on Meucci or other production cues right now that ,along with being good hitters , are attractively designed.
