Meucci Original Value - Road Agent?

I have a friend that recently picked up a Meucci Original "Road Agent" cue w/2 original shafts in new condition. In fact it still had the stickers on according to what he told me. I have not seen the cue so not sure of it's condition, but he said it's like new and straight, etc.

He wants to sell it but has no idea of it's worth and is not computer literate. I thought the educated AZers may be able to help w/a good ball park value to for him to start with. I have seen pricing between $395-$800 for this cue in various conditions so you can see my confusion.

Thanks for your help -

Dave

One sold on Ebay for $450, with a 'buy it now'. It also had two shafts, but was not in new or like new condition. Who knows what it would have went for if the auction would have ran. I also recently sold one with 1 shaft for $450ish, if I remember correctly. In the condition that you describe, I would say $600-$750.(just a guess though)

I sold the same cue on here for 450 and it took a few days i would say $500 is what someone might pay.

Thanks Ross & b-rod. Appreciate the feedback. My friend doesn't even know I started this thread yet, but he will.

aren't there several variations of road agents, with values ranging from ~$250 to $3k?

Depends if its a Night Road Agent or a Day Road Agent. The last collector I talked to said in good condition $500-$1000. Problem is that most Road Agents were heavily used. A serious collector would steal this at $450. I might know someone who could be interested. Pm me if you can get a good pic of it and your friends price.

Thanks for the info. I PMed you saying I can't get pics for a few days, but will.

In 1999 Mueller's had a MSRP of $700 for this cue and with their discount it went for $630.

In the 80's one type of road agent cue Meucci made was called "City of Lights", I am not sure what the difference between it and the "Road Agent" if any.

There were many of these cues made and you may still be able to purchase them new.

Road Agents aren't on my list, if he ever does make them again we'll see, but for now they are shelved.

I remember a thread in the wanted/for sale section about 5-6 months ago maybe where somebody had a Road Agent cue similar to what's being described... it may have been a raffle... anyway it was described as a Meucci Original (with block lettering logo) and in new condition... somebody mentioned that there had been a new (black dot shaft new) run of the cue made with the Original logo put on by request. I'll edit the post with a link if I find the thread. Just something to keep in mind possibly.

Road Agent, City of Lights, and now the HOF-6 which is available.

All the same to me. Just not made like they used to be. ;)

Thanks again for everyone's responses.

I have some additional info: it is the night version and again, it is the 'Meucci Original' which is much more desirable than the current version from what I understand.

I have asked the owner if he could take some pictures and email them to me since I will not see him for a few days - once received I will post them to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks,

Dave

I remember this,,,,,the same guy actually had a couple of them up on ebay around the same time,,,,,,as soon as people started questioning their age, he skeedaddled.

I have several of the early Meucci Originalsl also. When Meucci actually made quality cues before 1990. Which ones do you have?

If you're asking me, it's not my cue but I'm told it's a Meucci original, not sure of the year, but I thought the 'original' was the older one.

Thanks, Dave

It is the older one, unless it's a newer one. The link I posted, where somebody was able to buy a run of cues with the old logo from the Meucci factory, would make me very hesitant to make that assumption anymore.

I agree, I played with meucci cues for a long time, original "Originals". Then there was a period of time (may still be so) when you could find Meucci Factory seconds littered all over Ebay,,,,,then the story about them remaking copies of some of the old classics, without identifying them as remakes, (other than the black dot included), has pretty much steered me clear of anything Meucci anymore. I still have 2, but I know how old they are because I know how long I've had them.

Matthew, I emailed pictures to your sales email address. Thanks.

The cue looks straight when rolled on the table, but when rolled leaning on the rail there is a very slight wobble w/one shaft and a little more of a wobble on the 2nd. But not bad for a 20 year old cue.

Anyone know what the number means inside the bumper area that is pictured?

Thanks for all your help. Dave
