Meucci question (history)

I remember when he did these. Doesn't matter much if your pos un-cured wood shaft is warped. ;) I bought a BD and it was the deadest/numbest feeling shaft i ever hit. Sold it after about a week. Other guy loved it, go figure.
He really built it for testing his red dot shafts and then everyone started building the laminated shafts, hence the black dot. This is
the way I recall it. I played many years with an M0-2 & M0-1 and also have a M0- 1 1/2, loved the originals.

They were fine as long as you didn't break a lot with one. Those thin-walled ferrules didn't last long if you did.

One of my favorite cues that I regret getting rid of from my teenage playing days was a Meucci Rempe model with the chain link that I bought at Pinky's pool parlor in Turtle Creek, PA just outside of Pittsburgh in October of 1993. I upgraded to a Joss after Christmas and traded that cue as part of the deal.

I still have my MO-3. Posted about getting it restored in 2022, but never took action.

It was my second cue as an old girlfriend took my first cue with her when she left. I mainly have the MO-3 for sentimental value now.

I bought an custom? MO7 directly from Bob @ 1975 Burlington IA 9Ball Tourney.
I say custom since Bob told me he only made 2 like it. I believe it since 10 years later he recognized it and asked where I got it.

Does anyone know of any info on what shaft options were offered with Meucci Originals? I recently acquired an 84-8 that came with 2 shafts, one is 12.5 mm, the other is 11.25 mm. I absolutely love the 11.25 mm shaft, with extended pro taper. I have never seen another shaft / cue like it. Just wondering if 12.5 and 11.25 mm were common offerings with the 84 Series or other MO series cues?

Meucci has always allowed customization. They offered every type of shaft including snooker. The choice to have exposed wrap also was always a choice. I ordered my first Meucci that way back in the late 80’s. That said, sanding down a shaft to keep it smooth was relatively common practice back then, so getting a thinner shaft second hand isn’t out of the question.

I was just in the shop a few months ago, and I plan putting together an article. If I can find the time. They still do any kind of customization.
