Meucci re-wrap

I have a friend with a Meucci with the white sprayed linen wrap.The finish is worn through in spots and is starting to look like a blue and white leopard. He would like to have a leather wrap installed. Since I assume it was all sprayed after the wrap was put on, I am thinking that he would need the entire butt refinished so as not to have any damage or chipping to the edged of the finish where the wrap meets the forearm and the butt-sleeve??
I hate to have him send it to Meucci for any reason as I have heard horror stories.
 
Hello Jay,

It all depends on how carefully the installer can cut the finish.
Worst case is that it could chip resulting in a little touch-up.
No Biggie. The entire cue wouldn't need refinish unless warranted.

Not to much problem with chipping finish. Just score with razor blade before taking off wrap. Also removing wrap sometimes is a problem as it comes off an inch at a time since the cue was sanded with the wrap installed before the finish was applied.

Wrap groove will need to be cut deeper to put on new wrap.
