Meucci's, Yes or No???

I had one out of Bob's first catalog. I liked it but sold it when I bought my custom Joss from Dan Janes. It was a pretty good cue, most people who played with it liked it. I've owned several since but not for long. The quality just isn't there anymore. Also, I like much stiffer shafts these days and don't care much for production cues. I try hard not to condemn them anymore but it's hard sometimes.

I've owned two that I played with. The first series Gambler made after the Meucci Originals and a David Howard Meucci Originals.
I was a new player and thought the Meucci was great...but what did I know. I upgraded many times since then and would like to have it back but would put a different shaft on it. Probably and OB classic pro.
The originals, I was always told were excellent cues...I didn't like the one I had at all.

From what I hear the older Meucci's are much better than the current ones being made. But personally...I'd suggest something different.

My wife has a nice Meucci White Rose that I should take out and see what I think of it now.

I would like to see the Asian made Meucci cue, got any pictures of this?

I'll second that. Please, let's see this!

As for the original question, if you want/like a Meucci, then get one.

Certainly there has been grumbling about quality issues for years.

Many have said if you want one get an Original. I share that view. I have one and wouldn't mind having a "better" example. It shoots just fine for me but is not among my top cues, no Meucci ever has been. But that is subjective I think.

The thing about Meucci to me is that ... he deserves the recognition as the inventor of the telephone.

Freddie <~~~ but maybe his quality was in question too

My only Meucci

I have a Meucci MI Sneaky Pete. I had them make it a 62" cue with a 12.5 mm 31" Black Dot shaft. I have tried the G-core, 314-2 and a couple of other very good old Maple shafts. The Meucci Black Dot in my hands gave the least amount of cue ball deflection, go figure. It won't win a beauty contest, but it allows me to shoot a pretty decent game of pool. It is such a simple cue, no wrap or fancy rings and plain rose wood. The only time I keep the Black Dot up is on a long shot using English. So in my opinion, this version of a Meucci cue was a good buy for around $300.00. If I want some thing better I will go with Pat Diveney.
