Meullers tip shaper for lathe

Excellent tool! We've been using one for over a decade and wouldn't cut a tip any other way. It's safe to use and produces the exact same results on each and every tip. If you are concerned with safety, precision and duplication, there is no better tool.

Chris Hightower sells a version for the Taig.

Yes sir I know, I own one of Chris' tool shapers. However, that still doesn't answer my question if this particular one will fit in a Taig tailstock. I would "assume" NO it won't fit, but I really don't need any extra help making an ass out of myself so I try to ask the question instead of assume. :)

Looking at a chart on the internet, looks like the only Morse taper that would fit a 1/2" drill chuck would be a #0 or a #1 IF I am reading/seeing it correctly.

The cutter head is press fit on the shank. I'm not sure what taper the that it. If the make the 1/2" straight shank with the little tapered shank on the opposite side, this tool should press right on. I do not know enough about Taig set ups to say for sure.

Thanks guys. I guess ill have to invest in one.

Thanks again joe for that maximus tip you sent along with the morakami i ordered the other week. im interested in giving it a try.

No Morse tapers will fit the Taig Tailstock, as it only accepts 1/2" straight shank tooling. All morse tapers are ,,,,,,,,,,,,, tapered.

Don't buy it.

Thanks Frank. I got enough tip tools that I don't need another one, initially I was just curious if it would fit a Taig but as I learn about the Morse taper I see this particular one won't. It looks like a #0 or a #1 would as they are both under 1/2". Nevertheless, I'm actually thankful it won't fit, because.... well...... it's a damn tool and I'de buy it just because :p

I remember that tool, Joe Porper came up with a great design there, I haven't used it in years but I still have it.
