Mezz cues help

Hello,

I own a axi 604 wd700 wavy joint. I like it a lot but the shaft deflects a bit more than my previous pred 314-2 (in my opinion...)

3 questions:
-i'm thinking in do an shaft "upgrade" : buy a hybrid pro II or a 314-2. what do you think? deflection wise?

-how different are the united joint from the wavy joint? The wavy worries me cause the wood tends to "move". The pin already seems looser...
(I'm looking at the EC7 line + hybrid pro II or 314-2)

-The balance of the cue: Does the several mezz lines all have the same balance? I prefer a more center-forward balance. Any opinions?

Thanks!
ps (its my first opst!!)

proncon,

I use an EC-7 with a Hybrid Pro II shaft and I think it is the best combination. I tried the wavy joint when I was first trying to decide which cue to pick and it just didn't feel as solid to me. I am surprised that you say the wood is shifting because all of the joints usually stay ridiculously tight.

You will notice a difference with the Hybrid Pro II. There is quite a bit less deflection and I think it is more consistant then other low deflection shafts I have tried.

As for the balance, I'm not much of an expert when it comes to that. I know that I was leary of using a 19 oz cue when I first got it but it is balanced so well, I don't notice that it is that heavy.

If you are going to be in Vegas please stop by the Mezz booth. We have demo shafts and you can try out the Hybrid Pro II on your cue and see how you like it. Other then that, if you happen to live in NY or IL, there is probably a way you can try it out as well.

how much are the threads giving when you tighten the shaft? i figure there'd be a small break in period but it shouldn't be moving that much!

i'd contact mezz and see if they have a warranty on that! maybe they offer a shaft with a phenolic insert

Definitely stop by poolplayer. It would be nice to put a face to the name.

As for the balance point, I have no clue. It doesn't seem too far forward or too far toward the back...I guess that means the middle. :)

poolplayer is right. If your shaft feels extremely loose, you should contact Mezz. I have had my cue for about a year and it is still hard to put together. I have talked to people who have had theirs for 10 years and they are still hard to screw together. Like I said, please stop by the booth if you will be in Vegas for the BCA stuff. I'd be more then happy to answer any questions you have.

Hybrid pro 2 would be equivalent if not better than 314-2.
United joint gives you very tight fit.

Most of the Mezz weight in at 19oz+- without weight bolt. Balance point would be about centre forward , unless you adding in a weigh bolt.
Mezz shaft are dense so you can't really tell if it is rear heavy even if you add in a 1 ounce bolt.

although i love my mezz and the wd shaft which is pretty predictable. i do notice that mezz especially the axi are a little more forward weighted about 1-1.5" more than the norm.

For those of you who do play with the mezz do you guys play with the back bolt in or do you take it out?
