Mezz Hybrid Pro II - 3/8x10 pin size question (Need Help)!!!

I just got a mezz shaft to fit my Mike Gulyassy custom cue. My OB Classic I ordered with a 3/8x10 fit it perfectly. I understand the pin Mike Gulyassy uses is a 3/8x10 ACME.

Needless to say the mezz shaft doesn't fit my cue apparently it is a standard 3/8x10 and won't fit the ACME pin size.

How do I go about getting this fixed? Don't really want to send it off for weeks or months. If a local cue repair guy fixes the threading so I can get the shaft on will that impact the dynamics of the shaft. In other words I want to know if I have the shaft modified will it perform the way it was designed. Please respond.

Right now I'm sitting on some $325 firewood and that's not making me very happy

If your shaft doesn't have a real insert. Like the pin enter the wood directly... You could just mail Mike about sending you a phenolic insert in the acme thread. That one you can have mounted in the shaft and would solve you problem directly. Keep in mind a skilled cue installer has to do it to make sure it's well-centered.

This could also work if you have a metal or phenolic insert in it already.... but then you have to have the insert removed first, which might be a lil' bit more tough. And then send the measurement of the whole width to Mike to create a new insert on that size with his thread in it.

I hope this helps.

If the OB shaft fit correctly, that means that Royce at OB cues, has the tap that will
make your Mezz shaft fit the MG handle correctly.
All he has to do is to 'chase' the threads. What that means is, he'll run his
tap in following the existing threads to open the hole slightly to better accommodate your MG pin.
It should then fit exactly as your OB shaft does, perfectly.

Thanks guys I took the shaft to Roger Allen and with his tools he got fixed in about 45 mins. My Mezz shaft now fits better than my other shafts haha

Dadgum Mikey if a mezz shaft cost $325 please bring it with you next time you visit NC so I can meet you and hit a ball with it and as the country song says (put a girl in it) instead of a clown, meaning your avatar. just kidding--Leonard
