What're everyone's opinions on the difference between the Mezz DIP Pro R shaft (Ash cored) and the Pro H (Massaranduba cored)?

I'm looking to pick one of these two up soon and I'm back and forth over which one is best.

It's depend on your break stroke power. If you're POWER breaker, let choose Pro H.

Hrm, I gathered that much from the Mezz website, but I'm looking for a little bit more information. What makes the one better for power breaks and not good for other types of breaks? And at what break speed does the Pro H work better?

The H is just a bit stiffer. Depends on your preferences. I personally like a little bit softer shaft because my break isn't hard enough to make an extremely stiff shaft flex.

The Pro H work better with hard stroke speed. With Medium-hard speed, they're same. The CB control for break is the same. For example, with style of Jeff de Luna break, Pro H is better.

Another difference would be the weight, thus the cue balance point. H is a lot heavier, over 5 oz

Of course, but not affect much the way of break shot. You know, I've ever tried Pro H and Pro R on PB1 butt, PB2 butt, PB Pro, and even on BK2 butt. The weight total is in range 19.00 - 19.50 oz.

Well thanks for all the help guys. I placed an order for the Pro R today and I will see how that works out in a week or so.

I just got my PB Pro with a DIP H Shaft....it is absolutely crazy...My friend's selling his BK2 right now cos he wants my breaker so badly.

I didn't get to try the R Shaft so i can't compare, all i can say is the H Shaft isn't as heavy or front heavy as it thought it would be. Personally i like the weight, and despite breaking hard there's so much control. I never thought i'd say this for a break cue but there's actually control AND feedback when i break. Don't get those from the BK2. Then again there's the price difference.

i would suggest try powerbreak 2 with deep impact pro H, i have tried all combinations so far this combination works really really well, but of coarse its a case to case basis

I like your comment about control and feedback. I only broke three racks with it so am by no means experienced enough to fully comment, but the feeling of sheer authority it gave was something else. I felt it could deliver far more than I could ever give.

Is there a great deal of difference between the mezz breakers? I'm thinking of PB1 and PB2 here primarily. Is there a great deal of difference in how they break with the standard DI shaft?

How do you know which PRO shaft is an H and which is an R? Are they marked on the shaft?

the difference is pretty obvious...the lower part of the shaft on the h is dark brown wood. the r is ash, a much lighter colored wood, not much different in color than maple

Initially when the ashwood core was introduced, you cant find the R since it is the only Dipro shaft around, but when they introduced another shaft H, thats the time they put the R into the first to differenciate it, also the R is ashwood core, while the H is Massaranduba cored

With unlimited funds that would be ideal.

But that combo is the best so far, pbII with dipro H shaft, just remove the weights rings of the pbII, you got a solid breaker
Well i am using a dipro R before, when the dipro H arrived, disposed of my Dipro R, am pairing it with a customized butt same style as PbII

So, there's a very noticeable difference between the H and the R?

Thanks. The shaft I tried had no distinguishing lettering.
