We would like to thank Mezz for the opportunity to host one of their tour stops. As the event drew closer and we saw how many players were participating, we felt that 8 9' pool tables was not enough to do this event in the manner it should be done. After discussing it with Oscar and Deseree we all agreed that cancelling this event was best for all concerned. Our sincere apologies to everyone involved.

Thanks for posting this. However, I think that this decision should have been made weeks ago as the turnout for these tournaments over the past months has consistently been high. Shouldn't have been any big surprise.

I was thinking the same -- the Mezz tour has had player support from the beginning. Large fields should have been no surprise.

Maybe the room could have brought in a few more tables for the event to make it work instead of canceling on short notice.

Technically they could have done it rather easily. I believe West State Billiard Supply is located not too far from them. My guess is they didn't want to pony up and pay for the setup/removal of the tables.

In any case, cancelling the event 2 weeks prior to the date is bad form. The tour has been averaging 75 players or so all season so this shouldn't have been a surprise.

Wow, two weeks till the event? I had actually planned on making the trip over there for this too. What a shame.

It's not cancelled...

The venue has changed to OnCue billiards in La Mesa in San Diego.

The event itself is still a go, just not at Gary's Victor bililards in Victorville.

Victorville stop

When Oscar first contacted me about a stop months ago I told him I only had 8 big tables , he said that 8 would be enough, so I agreed to a mezz stop. After the 3rd stop I called Oscar very concerned about the numbers he was getting and that with 8 tables the players would be sitting around for hours between matches, not good. We tried to get more loaner tables in here but it was just to costly. Our conversations carried on for weeks, this wasn't something that was just dropped on Oscar. The tour is attracting good numbers and that is great. My room is not setup to host large fields, in the future we will be hosting tournaments with small fields and larger entry fees. Thanks for listening, Gary Henry, Owner of Gary's Victor Billiards
