Mezz WD 700 Shafts

Mezz makes the Alpha and Hybrid Pro II in addition to the WD700. They each have their fans, but are different enough that you may dislike one model, but love another.

Joey,

I have a few points to make regarding your inquiry:

First of all, Mezz products are really startimg to make a name for themselves in this industry. To proceed with purchasing a shaft and making arrangements to have it fitted to your Bender is not a bad investment. Point being, that if it winds up not suiting your game, you will still have a unique item which is highly marketable to the Bender-community. (provided your ring work is conservative)

Secondly, I highly vouch for Mezz. I have been loyally playing with mine since the inception of my game (roughly 5/6 years). The old timers in Chicago bread me with the mindset of putting a quality solid hitting cue in your hands and taking it to the grave. My Mezz has never paled in comparison to even the highest end of custom cues.

Additionally, I play with the stainless steel Mezz united joint. Love it. I have three shafts: An orignal standard PUJ maple, a Rick Howard custom made 13.25mm maple (hits like a mack truck!), and an old growth Joss 5/16x14 shaft.

Getting back on topic, my cue initially came with the WD700. I didn't care for the shaft diameter (12.6mm). I felt as if I was being deprived of milimeters :) The shaft hit great; but just didn't suit my game. I had already been playing with thicker stiffer shafts, and was not/could not get accustomed to the LD perspective.

To describe it simply...

~High impact

~High feedback/resonance

~Consistent medium on the deflection-spectrum

I believe if you change the European taper to a pro taper, the deflection will increase, not stay the same.
