MEZZ wd/700 VS OB1

The Mezz plays much more like a traditional maple shaft with lower deflection. The OB 1 to me hits way too soft. It is so soft you have to really get used to the way it plays.
I prefer a more crisp hit and the WD700 is the best LD shaft I've tried in that regard. I've heard that the OB Classic series has a similar crisp hit, but I have not tried one. I don't want to spend $200 just to hit some balls and sell it and no one around here has one.

As far as LD shafts go, imo it's WD700 > 314/Z > OBC > OB1/2 > whatever else is out there. I've only tried the Tiger and the Meucci, the Tiger was ok, but the Meucci [black dot] was pretty awful.

No, just a personal preference. In terms of strictly deflection, I think the Z2 and the OB2 are a step above the rest, especially the Z2. All that technology talk does add up to "something.
But regardless of that, I'm not really looking for a cue with the LOWEST deflection, just something more manageable than the obscene amount Schon shafts have. So to me, the WD700 hits like a schon, without the cue ball going 45 degrees of where you aim.
I think the personal admiration for the hit is more important than the actual deflection properties. Most of the better ones are pretty close (314, Z, OB 1/2, WD700). OB classic actually has noticeably more than those others I've shot with/owned, but I do like the hit a lot more than the OB 1/2. I simply can't stand the OB 1/2 really, the hit, the sound, it's all off.

Personally I hated the mezz shaft,it still deflected much more

If I had to choose between the 2,I would go with the OB1 only

Having shot with the OB1 for about 1 yr - I felt the hit was like a sponge and I tried all sorts of different tips but - went to the Mezz WD700 and it's been my cue for 6 yrs or so.
Mika is also using the WD700 shaft.
