Micarta Joint vs Phenolic Joint

I'm looking to have a cue made for me. The cue maker I'm working with says that linen phenolic is more flexible/softer than Westinghouse micarta joint.

The joint size is .850

The length would be either .25" or .50" capped

Most likely the material will either be sleeved or capped depending on my own preference.

Any suggestions from someone who's used it before would be great. I know that using Westinghouse Micarta as a ferrule must be capped but as a joint size it does not need to be.

.250"-.500" CAPPED ? How much cap would be left ? Kinda thin.

Phenolic more flexible than micarta ?

Is he charging $250 more for the micarta ?

I prefer to thread phenolics and stags, no caps.
Stags and G10 are just about the hardest and stiffest non metal material I've used. I don't know flexibility has anything to do with it at that length.
