Michael Vollmer

thanks stefan,

i have seen his website .. just wanted some personal feedback from people who are using his cues ...

i use a black boar so was wondering how similar they are ... would like to get one soon...

vollmer is almost some kind of religion here in the german area :D

he's being mentioned very often in the german forums and I've never read anything bad about his work.

That's an easy explanation: Michael Vollmer was the trainee of Tony.
Vollmer cues are built by the same technical specifications (e.g. deep knifed points and solid core) as BlackBoar. And naturally the design vibes are very similiar...

The pricing starts in the area of €1500 ($2000). Some more pictures:

i was actually wondering if any forum member has played with his cues ... i am aware of his many accolades but was hoping to hear from a cue owner and hopefully get a direct comparison vs BB ...

reason:
i dont want to leave my BB in the pool hall ... yet there are times i do just turn up there and so would want a cue available... if the 2 play along similar veins, getting a player from V could be a solution to my dilemma :)

thanks for all your input and info...

-Tony has made many new discovery's in cue building in the 10+ years since he helped Michael, But Michael does have some similar construction details but the cues are not the same techinal specifications, and they do play different. Really good shaft wood is very difficult to come by in Germany- for one.

looking forward to discussing this with tony next week :)

I took a look at his website, and saw some really nice looking cues. You can tell, right away, the influences that Tony had on Michael's work....but there are some subtle differences, too.

I dropped Mr. Vollmer a line, and he was very quick to respond. Seems as though he's VERY excited about having folks interested in his work....and I may explore having one done by him sometime down the road. He said that "turnaround" time can be in the 6-month range. Not too shabby!!

Yeah, he is almost a legend in Germany. There is some smart and proficient folk over here that take his work for gospel. And not without good reason, I think. Never heard any negative about him...

As far as I know 6 pointer will start at about $3,000 and 8 pointer at about $3,700. Don't nail me down on this, okay? ;)

Have a look at this...
