Do you have to be an american citizen to play for the USA on the Mosconi Cup? Is Mika a citizen? He has been here for a while. Maybe we can take a couple pinoys for our team? Anybody smell what im stepping in?

No- Tony Crosby and Julie Kelly and maybe Karen became citizens but I think thats about it.

Surely Mika can't play for USA just because he lives in the US. Now, if he were to gain US citizenship, would he then be eligible?

Who knows... Matchroom's selection criteria is a more highly guarded secret than who's sleeping with Hillary Clinton. They just announced Hatch joins Archer (Archer apparently has an insurmountable BCA points lead, and Hatch gets in due to being our current MVP). They state the next 3 selections will be made in October, with one being #2 in BCA points.

But how are the last 2 going to be chosen? A Matchroom wild card pick and another internet whoring popularity contest?

Does anyone know?

We are all the same color on the inside. I pray for a day we are all just people of the universe.

When I was 12 yrs old I told my 6th grade class that someday there would be only one race because people of different races would fall in love and get married and have kids and then and then and then.....

I wonder if we're any closer to that dream. Oh... that was 1955. The dream lives on in my head/heart.

i doubt it'll ever go down quite like that. even here on the forum people talked about thinking mixing races being not too good an idea.

lot of people don't want their kids dating outside their race.

Nationality/Citizenship

This thread originally addressed the question of nationality vs. citizenship. How in the world did you people turn this into a race issue???

seems like a lot of people feel like america is good enough to live and work in but they don't want to rep the US when countries compete

I was curious if he lives here , pays taxes? wins a lot of tournaments here, why would he not represent the USA? Could somebody who moves to Europe still play on team USA? IMO you should play on a team where you live and support pool/ where pool supports you.

Bad idea from the get go.....Let say Mika was on the USA team and lost a match...worse yet...a "key" match..

Then for the next year there would be accusations of.....You guessed it.....THE DUMP.

Well I certainly hope someone who moves from the States to Europe can still play on team USA considering that unless you renounce your citizenship you still have to pay US Federal taxes on the income you earn in Europe regardless of how long you have lived away from the USA. This even goes if you gain citizenship of another country and have dual citizenship.
