Mike dechaine crazy spin shot

LOL LOL. Good one. Actually it looks like never hit rail because camera have some kind speed issue. You can see similar happen earlier when he shoots 1-ball.
And when he throws that 4 ball also. It is kinda speeding, braking, speeding ...

Spin shot

I thought 90% of the posters on AZ could hit that shot. Probably why it's never been brought up before. Just taken for granted...

Definitely looks cool from my side.

Internet Exploder, lol.

I am going to say no
Reason 1: I would like to think that the CB can not come down the line it took had it hit the rail, if it was a skip in the video the should not of appeared to of come down that line since with that much spin there would have to be an obvious difference in point on the table that the CB passed. (what i mean is, if you draw a line from the foot rail to the head rail and mark the point when the CB passed over it there's now way the distance between those two points could be that close where it would look like the ball hit the rail.
Reason 2: I do this with movies a lot as it the old slide of hand that magicians do. When a movie tries to make you focus on one thing I like to look around, to see what it was that you wanted me to miss. That being said the next thing I did was watch the back ground to see if there was any noticeable skip in any action going on, I could see none.

But then again i'm the guy who saw the ball move during The Hustlers on Trutv.

That was not camera error. Everything in the video is smooth and continuous during the shot.

I disagree. You are proposing that it makes more sense that on a regular table, with regular cloth and regular balls, that the cue ball can change angles like that on a dime, with a level stroke. I've never seen anything close to that happen in my entire life, and if Mike had indeed done that, we would have seen some sort of reaction from him and/or people around the table.

The skip was only a millisecond. It's not even close to a full second of a skip, so it's going to be harder to see any obvious skips in the other moving objects, because they are moving so much slower than the cue ball and the video is choppy as it is. However, If you keep replaying it over and over, and pay close attention, if you look at the table that is two tables behind Mike, you can notice the subtle skip of the two people's feet. They are moving really slow, then both of their feet skip a good 6 inches to a foot really fast at the same time.

I don't know what the big deal is I do this all the time. I put too much spin on a long shot and end up pocketing the cue ball. I don't even need to do that crazy spin thing Shane did, it just rolls straight back into the pocket.

If the cue ball never touched the side rail, as people now claim, it would travel directly up table, not headed for the opposite corner pocket. This cue ball actually hit the side rail. The rebound angle took it on the right path. If it didn't touch the rail, Mike Massey would have the shot in his trick shot arsenal and I'm sure he'd be able to execute it with a lighter cue ball.

The only guy I ever witnessed execute a shot similar to this, was Donnie Carrier, in Troy, NY, back about 1974.

Totally agree. If you watch it in slow motion, you can see the cb all of a sudden jumps up table at a 90 angle a couple of ball widths, then immediately is off on an angle to the pocket.

The cb definitely hit the side rail. Not to mention that for it not to hit the side rail, the law of physics would have to be broken.

The mods need to ban anyone that actually thinks the CB didn't hit a rail.

With that being said, it's still an impressive shot.

I find it odd that some here think it did not hit the rail, yet, in the other thread about what players make the most impressive shots, Mike wasn't even mentioned.
