Mike Dechaine - ? Loathed ? - Liscotti Memorial - SVB - Etc.

Brian you look like you have lost some weight. Been shoveling a lot of snow lately? :-) Looking good buddy, your room looks great and you host some great players there. Making great friends and good memories.

Nice post.
What type of camera did you use.

Many years ago we had a One Pocket Player called the "Chicken" in San Francisco.

I remember when Gonzo played the Chicken one night and had him stuck for 500 hundred.
After 8 hours and we were sharing a beer.
Gonzo in his heavy Mexican accent said, "You know Barney, It's not so easy plucking the feathers of a Chicken"............grin :)

it's an old digital canon sd800 is.

and yes sir, some chickens are tougher to pluck than others.

Brian, great thread.

First to Mike, That young lady Sir is out of your league, but congrats to you both you look happy.

On Jenn's question-
I did think it was over the top and while I know Mike is not the most liked player I felt bad for him. Maybe she felt because she knows Mike it would be ok to ask it.
I don't think Mike understands how he comes off to other people.
I was there in Galveston when a few other players kind of pulled Mike to the side and tried to explain to him how they felt he needed to change his attitude. I could see in Mike's expressions he didn't get what they were telling him but I think he does now.
One comment they said to him for me made perfect sense.
"Listen you keep going to way you are and eventually nobody will want to deal with you. Not sponsors, fans, promoters, or other players. No matter how good you play it won't matter you will be done in pool."
Wether Mike remembers that conversation or not from what I see he understands what they meant now.
Mike is one of the young guns and he is part of the future of America pool.

Brian- One day I will make it down to your neck of the woods.

your not so far away - giddyup, Bora. :grin-square:

see you in edison - and antyime over here.

and, yes, I agree, I think things will be coming together nicely for MD.

I'm not even going to say anything this time about the obsessive number of cue cases you own..............Thanks for the thread. It's good to read about MD in a positive light for a change. He's young and because of that he's going to do some things that won't please everyone. Truth is.....you absolutely should never judge people you have never met.

Maniac

but I will say this:

They were perfectly vertical, all of them, leaning against the wall, ramrod straight in a nice row, until company came.

they're back to normal now. - but I'm not.

obsessively yours,

I saw her play at the tournament where I heard from people Marc dionne robbed the tournament an made around $1800 for 2 days work from what I was told by a couple locals which one of them is a good friend of mine an confronted him about it!! She shoots very well but def ain't a b player yet she is def close to a high c player! But seeing how she shoots she will def b a b player in the near future

I've seen her run out 9 ball racks, and do some pretty shots doing drills, she has very good form, aims steady. She's better than a C, unless your ranking does not match up to what I think a B is. A C will pretty much never run a 9 ball rack, and will usually fail at about 5 balls in rotation.

Wow! That girl is a cutie!

On top of that, she is extremely pleasant - and smart (about to receive her chemistry degree in boston).

Triple threat, really.

Cute, smart, and did I mention she can shoot straight?

Good for you, MD.

Brian,
Great post, thank you for the recap of the tournament. It was great to see you and I really enjoyed getting in a few practice games with you - and great advice on that kick shot you gave me ;)

I also enjoyed watching a few of your matches - you were playing really well. While I wasn't playing especially well myself, I appreciated your support and encouragement during my matches.

Great story about Mike heading back to your place afterwards & great pics - must have been a great time, and great memories. Thank you for sharing.

It was good to see you and catch up on things. I hope to see you in some more local tournaments. I know I'll see you at SBE!

Steve

Brian,

I cannot express to you enough how grateful I was that you allowed Sam and I to stay the night on saturday. Your house was absolutely beautiful and you have one of the best game rooms I ever seen. I am def looking forward to meeting up again and learning more about cues and BBQ.

Take Care,
MD

Steve;

As always, it was terrific to see you again, too, and to hit some balls with you was frosting on the cake.

Please give your dad my regards.

See you both at SBE.

Mike;

It was a pleasure to have Sam & you over. You are welcome to stop by anytime.

A level pool table, good BBQ, and some Yuengling beers; how could it not have been fun?

I'll continue to enjoy keeping an eye on your career and the successes that are sure to come your way.

Have fun and don't worry too much about the detractors. You're a twenty-something pro pool player who plays with lots of emotion. It's not like you're an axe murderer for crying out loud.

Hey, maybe pt109 was right. Run with the bad boy image, but do good things behind the scene and deny those ever happen.

But if your gonna go with the bad boy image, do it right. Something along these lines so you really give 'em something to sqwak about: :p

You shouldn't be spreading rumors you know nothing about, you were misinformed. Marc lost money on that tournament and a couple of nit railbirds who didn't have the stones to even play in the tourney were the ones trying to cause all the drama.
