I have known Mike for many years now and consider him to be a good friend. Mike I will miss seeing you at the Viking events, I hope that you will be able to make a few for old time sakes. I know Matt will do an excellent job, he has in the past.

I wish you a great retirement, I still am looking forward to the cross promotion deal we have been working on, in the neighborhood soon.

Matt~ Good luck son, looking forward to seeing a lot more of you.

Mike, you mentioned to me about a month or so ago that you wanted to do this, I just didn't realize you were actually going to do it. ;) Enjoy your home time. When you travel all the time, those little bits of time at home are quite precious.

Matt, congrats on your "new" job. I don't think anyone doubts that you'll do a great job. :)

Mike,

Happy Retirement!

May your family business be carried on with great success!

Big round of applause to Mike for the 12 years on the road, keeping pool alive and well for thousands of players around the country. Wishing Matt the very best to keep it going strong.

Retirement eh? 10% of the calcutta must have been alot sweeter that I thought :)

Yeah Mike,

Enjoy not doing a draw without the subtle accusations you always hear but can never defend because you didn't do anything "wrong".

Enjoy not getting up at 7 am Saturday morning to get the gig going and staying late Sunday night tying things up along with all the other Tour Biz that has to be taken care of within a day or else you're perceived as being "A Slacker".

Enjoy not having to come between players to straighten a mess out.

Enjoy not being the most unpopular TD in the world when you're making a decision between "named players" that are playing in your event that are having a severe personality problem between themselves during a match.

And I know you will not miss hearing the thanks from those players that silently applauded you for making the right decision for all those times.

So I publicly applaud you for being a Tournament Director/Tour Promoter for 12 years. Congratulations to you and your accomplishments for making The Viking Tour as successfull as it is today and giving back to the pool players the opportunites they can expect today and in the future because of your dedication.

Thank you Mike and good luck to Matt!!

Hey everyone,
I do not believe Mike has retired, I believe he just stepped up to the next rung on the ladder. Mike deserves to move up. I respect your decision to promote Matt to "Viking Tour Tournament Director". Mike knows where I'm coming from.

Matt I wish you the best of luck & hope to see you & "The Viking Tour", back in the Atlanta/Marietta/Duluth, GA. area soon.

BTW, Matt's screen name here is "Mattthecat".

"Have a nice day everyone",

Good luck Mike and Matt. Hope to see more of you at the Pool Room - it was a pleasure attending your events, meeting you and discussing pool.

best of luck

Whoever told you that you were witty was
lying their ass off. Probably told you that to get
you away from them.

Happy to see you quoted it because he does this all the time. Posts completely tasteless things and then deletes them.

Congrats Mike and Matt.

Thanks everyone.

I wish it was a full retirement but it's not.

Fortunately my retirement is only from the road which means I won't be at most of the regular events. That will now be Matt's job. I will still operate the day to day activites of the tour which include the promotions of the events, selling the events and gaining the necessary sponsorships needed to continue the tour.

As IP Magazine put it, Mike Janis will step aside from the weekly traveling that is required as the Tournament Director and will now work exclusively as promoter of the Viking Tour.

I will still direct the Splash events like the $25,000 National Championship, the Southern Classic Open and the Regional Championships.

Additionally, I moved to a new state (GEORGIA) and will be developing the South with more and more Viking Tour events.
