I am very interested in getting up a lambros but before I do just that, I have to make sure it won't become an impulsive buy.
Has anyone tried lambros cue and other cues especially.such as OB(ob1) , Mezz(wd700) , Pred(314-2) and Al bautista(1al1 and 1al12)
The listed cues are just cues I currently owned hence really do want to hear how they play differently. Really appreciate imputs!
Thanks

lambros

hi everyone......

i have edited my reply to 'taken'........
comparing mike lambros to al bautista is like comparing apples and pears.......fruit is good for you but.........lambros does not make butterfly cues.....lambros is one of the best cue builders because his focus is on the ......the balance......feel........ and.......hit.......he is a first class cue builder and his prices reflect it.....about $3000 for his pointed cues is average.....his ultra joint is world famous.......al bautista is more like picasso art work.......anybody here in the states who builds a butterfly cue is going to charge double or more for what al does.......as far as how they feel to me i would say mikes feels slightly better to """""me"""""..........i bring both to the table and get plenty of compliments about my butterfly.........the answer to ''taken'' ... is get both and you have it all.........BEAUTY.......PRICE.......BALANCE.....FEEL.......if you can only afford 1 for now.......then decide which of the 4 is most important to """you"""........als work is also first class but not his prices........if you understand the difference between a beautiful woman and beautiful sex with a not so pretty woman then you understand why its best if you can to have both......we live in the usa.......go for it........ have a nice day.............joey

i bought one of al bautistas butterfly cues here on AZB.........a lot of quality work for the money spent.......i just purchased a lambros custom cue and i would agree with others that his cues hit great.....and are quality work......better balanced than al........joey

So I guess in terms of hit, you favour lambros?

No matter what we tell you, you still won't know how they hit until you play with one.

If you buy one right, you'll be likely to get your money back and quickly if you decide against keeping it (unlikely IMO).

I am actually just weighing between my compulsion to buy and a need to buy (in terms of improving my game) through feedbacks. Hence!

I prefer Lambros solid maple shafts to his laminated ones. I just want the balls to go in the pocket consistently. To me, hit quality is secondary. I am sure others feel differently. That said, Lambros cues have a wonderful feel about them. They play great.

Seriously doubt you're going to improve your game just by getting a more expensive cue.
Many super good players and pros alike use and compete with cues in 500-800 dollar range, and a lot for even less.
Just get a straight stick and start spending hours at your local pool hall.

Lambros......

I bought a Lambros a couple of weeks ago and it is an awesome cue. I don't have a Lambros LD shaft though, but that's OK because I play with maple shafts only.

Thank you everyone for the feedback. I think I have made my mind. Task 1) improve my game with my current stick. task 2) start saving up. Thanks!

For what it's worth...

Hey Taken! As spoken previously...no stick will improve your game unless you stick with one cue...and of course "table-time". Putting hours on the felt is your best answer...

I've owned numerous Al Bautista cues, and still have one(Celtic cue) that will always be in my collection.
I have also owned a fancy Lambros with an ultra joint and standard shafts, which eventually ended up in the hands of a Japanese collector. I regret selling it, but money talks...so I let it go.

Both cues play/played great...two different monsters if you will... The Bautista has Kamui Black super soft tips with Al's LD shafts, whereas the Lambros had medium Moori tips on standard maple shafts.

The Bautista had a softer hit to it, and the Lambros had a harder hit... The best way I can think to describe the feel of the hit would be the ping of the Lambros and the pong of the Bautista... If that makes any sense at all LOL...

One must consider changing the tips will also affect the feel of the hit...
Both cues are/were monster players, so really,...you can't go wrong with either!!
Just my humble opinion

Hi,
Can you help me get a value for my Lambros cue? What I know...Mike Lambros told me he made 18 cues in his basement in the first 18 months he when he started which have the ML on the butt cap. 12 with no points and 6 with 4 points. Of the 6 cues with points he said he knows at least 2 he knows have been ruined somehow. This conversation took place about 8 years ago.
I have 1 of the surviving 4 pointers in ebony and bird's eye maple forearm. It has white with black spec linen wrap and comes with 2 shafts. It's in near new condition, save a small ding or two which I'm sure could be polished out and a little "chip" on one of the shaft's black ring where it connects to the butt, (cosmetic only) where it slipped and hit the deck. I'd post pics but don't know how. I could send some to a cell or email though if needed.
I've been told Mike isn't on everyone's "favorite people" list, but he's always been relatively pleasant the times I've visited him. Nonetheless, the guy is a world class cue maker and I'd think one of his basement cues would be a collector's item.
Any feedback and/or thoughts, advice, etc. are much appreciated.
Thanks,
Ken

I am not saying a more expensive cue will make your game better. However, I do think buying a good stick can help improve your game. No idea how you play. Just my opinion but not all cues are created equal. Not all cues will give you the same result using the same stroke on a draw shot. There are more examples that can be applied. For me I like a cue that gives me the most english with the least amount of effort. Others may feel different. The cue does matter. Just not necessarily the price.
