mike massey cue case

It is wood...all hand carved. The guy who made them, made about a half dozen of these cases...all different kinds of sharks...and presented/sold them to several pros (Massey has one, Jerry Briesath has another). There's a guy in my town, who publishes the pool newpaper, The Break, and he has one too. It's just publicity, and a conversation piece...Mike doesn't carry it everywhere, when he plays. It's way too heavy for that! :D

..think only pros own them..

Nope...As I mentioned, the guy who publishes the regional pool newspaper, The Break, has one, and he is just an average amateur player. He also owns a billiard supply store, and the case sits on a shelf in his store. There are very few of them...IIRC Massey told me about a half dozen...all different.

I'm told he came into one of my local poolhalls with the case when there wasn't anything special going on. Apparently, he was in the area and is friends with the poolroom owner. I believe he said when I'd seen him at same poolhall that his folks lived in the area (Bay Area in California) so maybe he was visiting them. In any case, he'd had the case with him at that time for no special reason or occasion, so perhaps he now carries it with him all the time, or perhaps he used to and then decided not to carry it all the time anymore.

If I had a case that cool, you know I'd carry that everywhere!

I met Mike at the Masters tournament in March. To me, the case felt a bit lighter than it actually looked. I couldn't guess on the weight though. I'm not sure how many cues were in it either, maybe 3.
