Is it me? or is it "what we like to call it" a tired and worn out phrase, that I have to listen to 50 times a night watching the IPT on TV?
From now on I will just cut the commentary off and listen to some music while I watch a friendly game of 8-ball on the tube.

Grady and Billy do a much better job annoucing a match than anybody else on the planet. My vote is give Grady Matthews and Billy Incardona a job as color commentary!

I aint seen this yet but a was there when it happened,is it the phrase ( a cant make two balls in a row).:)

I think its more...

Sigel: I am the best, no one plays as good as me, guys should always beat the girls because girls have a weak break and shoot weaker.

(The above does not represent me. If you were to take all the IPT broadcasts that aired so far, the above is a summary of all Sigel says.)

To tell you the truth, I liked Sigel going into this (not to win, just as a player), I still like Sigel, but goddamn if it isnt getting annoying as hell.

Summary of Kevin Turdeau now:

KT: This is a slow nap cloth, now why didnt that ball go in? Because the pockets are tighter and the cloth is slower. These are the traditional rules. Its a slow nap cloth with tighter pockets. Mosconi and Fats used to play on equipment like this. The cloth is a slow nap cloth. 8 ball is harder then 9 ball. See that ball didnt go in because the pockets are so much tighter... and it's a slow nap cloth.

But the sad thing is, I really enjoy the show :D

Mike the Mouth

All said and done, we may not like the way he states things, but he is deadly accurate about so many things. He pointed out many times when players were headed for trouble and chose bad paterns or bad shot selections.
When he stated that he had heard of Mikka and heard he played "pretty good", but didn't know much about him, I thought was a little obvious and tacky.
The slow cloth bit, I got a bit tired of. I have played on Simonis muxch slower than what they played on.
What he said about the ladies, well, he is just not very tactful sometimes.
Efren made it look like a childs game.

I haven't seen any of the televised IPT events yet but it sounds as if it has one glaring thing in common with the ESPN events.... you have to watch them with the volume turned off in order to enjoy it.

I don't have to watch them to know what they're like... Mike annoys me to no end so I already knew that I would be turning the volume down once I do get to see them.

I'm gettin' good and sick of listenin' to Siegel as well. Mike the Maggot would be a better nickname. One of the few things in life that I distain is hearing someone constantly using the "I" and "me" words.

And it really frosts my ass to hear him say how much more difficult 8-ball is over 9-ball. Give me a friggin' break!!

You know, I'm kinda new to pool. Been playing for a couple of years, but just here recently got into the depths of shotmaking, etc. I love watching Billiards on ESPN Classic and I love watching the King of the Hill on OLN.

The one thing that turns me off is Mike Sigel. He seems like "I"m the best, everyone else sucks". Like what he did with Efren on that full table bank where he chocked the leave? "Efren is a big underdog to this shot" 2 seconds later "How'd he hit it"... That kinda upset me, because him acting like that, and with his better than everyone attitude puts a bad image to Professional Pool.

I dunno, jmo

i watched the ipt for the first time last night.......im hooked although 8ball aint my game. Its cool to see such world class players in action, there isnt anyone there ive never heard of. And to see mike massey play was very cool, i know he used to play in tourneys way back, but all ive ever seen him in is the trick shot stuff. Yes the commentary is bad.......it wasnt to the point where i had to turn the sound down but this is my first viewing lol. What would be cool is if they juggle around the "pro".....if they got trudeau and the other guy there already, they could substitute a pro in there, maybe someone who gets knocked out early, it would be cool to hear people you never heard commentate......like maybe archer or mika or duel or varner, something like that.

I still say, it's not so much what he say's as much as how he says it,

Jeanette Lee should be the MC for IPT

I have enjoyed the programs also, and I agree with many of the comments posted here. For me, the most annoying thing was listening to Mike mispronounce Marlon Manalo, Efren Reyes' and Francisco Bustamante's names. If you are going to be the commentator, I would think you would learn to pronunce their names correctly. I think it would have been quite humorous if Efren had walked over to Mike after the match and asked him loudly, "Can you say my name now Micky?"

FYI Mike, it is boostamante not bust a mante
Maaanaaalo not Manalo (as in Barry Manilow)
Efren, not Ephraim

As for commentators, you guys are crazy. The IPT should hire Jeanette "The Black Widow" Lee as commentator for these shows. She already has a huge fan base, she knows pool, she has a great personality, she is FUN, and she is very easy to look at. This is a no brainer, and I am surprised no one has offered her the job.

Ha Ha Ha

Timberly hasn't seen the matches on OLN but she just knows they are no good.

Jody B. wants to fire Mike and hire Grady. Gee, that's easy, call up Kevin and tell him you will pay Grady's salary. Right now Kevin pays Mike's salary, you surely didn't think he was doing it pro bono now did you?
See how it pays to have friends in the right places.

As far as Sigel saying women will have a problem with their weak break - that should be obvious. If they don't make a ball on the break then they will be toast.

Women as good as men? When was the last time you saw a woman match up for the cash with a man at an event? Jean Balukas was probably the last one who would play anybody. I never got to see her play. But from what I have heard of her a match between her and Mike would have been something special. Much better than Bobby Riggs and Billie Jean.

I think it was at the Clyde Childress where they actually tried to petition Ms. Balukis off the mens tour.

She said they would be better with the sound off, and I agree. I don't think she said the matches would be no good, where did you get that from ? She said she knows enough of Mike to say what she said, I believe her.

We used to call the MUTE button on the remote control the "Howie Meeker" button. I doubt you know who that is, but suffice it to say he was one of the most annoying sports announcers/analysts on the air, imo (and many others). Accept that many feel the same way about Mike Sigel.

Yes, it's amazing what you can get away with when it's your friend who has the money. Thanks for pointing that out jjj.

Dave, who wonders who was Howie's friend ;)

I thought this too until I heard Charlie Williams commentate for the UPA tour championship broadcast on ESPN a few months ago. I was wishing for Allen Hopkins back after that.

I think he kept saying Ef rem.

The Black Widow has been on ESPN a few times and you are right she does make a good commentator. A little bit of training with a coach and she would be excellent. She has it all. Beauty, brains, skill, clear & pleasant voice. And a husband who is on the IPT so she can be privy to inside info. Plus, as you say, she will bring an added fan base to the show.

Right now KT is enjoying himself in the limelight and is one of the announcers, but in the future he may step into the background and remove himself as a commentator. Lee could replace him. Or, she could be a roving reporter who talks with the players after they play.

good old mike

I like him a lot, played him twice beat him twice.
Besides his bad manners at the table, all his crap talking, his lack of respect for all players, he does have very shiny teeth I have to complement him on those. KT shopuld have him do some toothpaste commercials, LOL
ya see its not all negative for the guy.
