Could anyone help me get in touch with Mike Shamos from Pittsburgh?

I'm working on recreating a billiards table as described in "The Compleat Gamester" and it's been suggested that I tap Mike's expertise on the subject.

For that matter, the opportunity to speak to anyone with knowledge of early pocket billiard tables (17th & 18th centuries) would be highly useful. Does anyone know of examples preserved in museums stateside?

Antique tables

Tables from the pre-Brunswick period (before 1850) are exceedingly rare in the U.S. There is an early billiard table (1738) in Williamsburg, VA viewable by the public but I have not seen it.

The table in the Compleat Gamester was quite flimsy by comparison, with a thin wooden bed.

Thanks for signing up Mike. Great to have you here.

Hows your 3 Cushion game these days?
