Well, not true in the FTC Case... quoting from the article
Note: This stipulated final order is for settlement purposes only and does not constitute an admission by the defendants of a law violation. A stipulated final order has the force of law when signed by the judge.
It plainly says that this doesn't consitute and admission of a violation of a law. The FTC is NOT a court of law, it is a commission and does not have the authority to "convict" anyone of anything. They do have the authority to negotiate settlements or order sanctions, but NOT to convict anyone of the violation of a law.
That being said, if you'll go to the IPT website and read about Trudeau, he will tell you there that in his younger days he plead guilty to felony charges and spent time in a Federal Institution... hmmmm... he also points out that Don King was convicted of murder, but, like him or not, Don King had done more to make boxing a big bucks sport than anyone. Hopefully, Kevin Trudeau can do the same for pool. Oh, I don't ever see poolplayers negotiating for a $30 million dollar match, but I can see where his IPT tour can make a difference in pool.
Personally, I wish him the best... because if the best happens for him, then the best might happen for other tours as well. If Trudeau makes a go of this and strikes it rich(er), then Corporate America might open their eyes a little and start pumping a little bit of their monies into the other tours.
Later,
Bob
