Mike Sigel's Perfect Pool DVD's

I received the three DVD's yesterday and just finished watching all of them. They are extremely well made and the highest quality pool product that I have seen.

I believe that they are an absolute "must have" for all new players. And I would highly recommend them to all players who play in the APA. I have seen so many players who just do not have the basic understanding of the principles of pool. And a lot of them are APA 7's. 5's and under have no clue!

It follows the format of an infomercial in that both Mike and Kevin are the actors. And they come across great together. You get to see the left hand version and the right hand version.

They use the teaching method of see one, do one, teach one that hospitals use. A very effective, proven method.

Much of the material presented I have discovered by myself over the past seven years by buying many books and videos but here it is presented all in one package. In a very easily understood manner.

This is money well spent.

Sure wish I was rich and could spend a day with Mike.

I have Mikes older videos as follows:

-Run out series (8 & 9 ball)
-Perfect pool (perfect 9, 8 and straight pool)
-Winning Edge

Have you seen them?
If so are these new DVD'S just a re-hash of the old stuff, however, perhaps just presented in a newer(infomercial format) better fashion or is this brand new material?I understand that his new set is called "Perfect Pool" which is the same name as his old stuff so that is why I ask.

Any feedback from anyone appreciated.

I have Mike's older videos as well, and this one is a little better than the rest. The team teaching method works well. Highest quality production, as you would come to expect from Trudeau. I would spend the $60, if I were you, to see some new stuff. The first video is pretty basic, but it's good to be reminded of the foundational stuff every now and then.

Yes, once you have been in pool for some time, and read books and watched videos and watched the pros then there really is not much a person has not seen and does not know. But does he really know it, or is it that he thinks he knows it? Does he actually do what he knows he should do? How many people do you know that know they should stay down and follow through but don't do it? This DVD will show you how to do it.

Anyway, the videos are all brand new, recently filmed, in California I believe, and from the looks of them they used top notch equipment.

No advanced stuff on these videos. I believe that will come in the series to follow. These DVD's cover material from basic to intermediate. And that is the area where I believe 90% of the players fall into. After watching and practicing what is on these DVD's a person will have the proper fundamentals for playing pool. And you will at least look like a pool player.

I have to admit that Kevin looked good. Picture perfect form and stroke.

There are a series of drills which are accompanied by flash cards (27) that you can take to the pool room for handy reference. It is funny because I have the same size blank cards that I have been putting on drills that I have seen in books and videos. They are very handy to take to the pool room. Perhaps in the future they will come out with a series of IPT flash cards covering different drills. I am surprised that no one has thought of this yet.

There is also a section on 8-ball and Mike's theory on how to run racks.

The problem with making DVD's about pool is that there is so much material that one can cover. Can you imagine making a DVD of the material in Phil Capele's book "Play Your Best 9-Ball"? Or Rays, "99 Critical Shots"?

The night after watching the first video I went to the local bar for our weekly 8-ball tournament and came in first and won $30. So to me the DVD's have already benefited me. But then, I might have won it even if I didn't watch the DVD. LOL

I also recommend Mike's videos.

I also have his perfect runout series - 8 - 9 & straight pool. Plus his 150 and out against Mike Zuglan.

He is soooo smooth. Makes everything look so effortless and easy.

I like when he looks at the table and says. Okay, I will make these two balls, then slide over there and make those 4, then make this ball and we should be perfect for the 8. Then he does what he says.

He plans the runout in groups of balls rather than strictly looking at a particular sequence of all the balls. He knows that if he gets in an area he will make the balls there. Which pattern he chooses to run them is not so important. Whatever looks good at the time.
