Just had to give a shout out to Jeff for these tips. Was able to get Mike Webb to install them for me yesterday and played last night with them. All I can say is, I have finally found the tip I have been looking. No break in required, these played exactly how I was hoping from the first shot.

Jeff, many thanks and you have a customer for life my friend.

Do these tips grip as well as a Kamui Super Soft as that is what I am after, a tip with major grip on the cue ball. I am in search of the grippiest tip and I will buy any brand at most any price to get what I am after.

Thanks

Kevin

So for me, they hit like a medium with the grip of a soft if that makes sense. It is exactly the tip I was looking for. I've never played with a Kamui so I can't compare but for $3 it might be worth trying out. I'm glad I did.

I have already sent pm to pooldawg8 as I want to try them out.

Thanks

I played wit Kamui Soft for years and these tips give Kamui the 7.

Yeah exactly this.

I press them down to medium-hard, and once shaped they basically never need any maintenance. I scuff it lightly before I screw the cue together for the day, and then don't think about it until the next time I come to the pool room. Probably don't even need to do that much, but it's just habit.

Best part is the consistency though. No weird chunky hits from the glue layers on so-called "premium" tips. Once you pop on a dud, it plays exactly the same on every single shot until you put a new one on.

Got a box of Elkmasters for $30, and used a $5 c-clamp to make 50 tips. Literally a lifetime of 'em for the cost of a Kamui.

pooldawg8's tips come highly recommended; good choice if you don't wanna deal w/ the hassle of making them.

Pooldawg8 sent me a hard pressed dud courtesy of another poster here who noticed that I like hard pressed triangles. Played a long 3 cushion session and a session of 9 ball with it and found it hits a bit softer than my Triangles so I am staying with my Triangles. I also found that chalk goes all over the place with he duds possibly because they are infused with chalk. How anyone can compare a pressed dud to a soft tip is beyond my imagination.

Finally giving up on the Blue Diamonds?

Jeffs mild duds do play (and install) very nice.

Hey Murray!
Yes, Blue Diamonds are awesome once they've been pounded down and played with for about 3-4 months. These things are like that right from jump street.

Milk duds definitely live up to the hype.
They play like a medium hitting tip, but grab the ball like fly paper.
It's extremely difficult to miscue with a milk dud.

True. Freakin'. Story.

They really are excellent tips, and cost almost nothing to make or buy.

I've been playing Jeff's duds for several years now. They are my clear favorite tip ever. I find them to be med/hard but very forgiving. They grip well, but I would not say it is impossible to miscue with them. With poor technique miscues are quite easy to come by with these tips, as with any other.

Ease of maintenance, consistency and longevity are the strongest suites of these tips. The last one I took off after a year just to see if their was a difference in a new one, there wasn't, it felt exactly the same. This was twice weekly play all year long, maybe five or six hours a week of actual play. That's pretty damn good in my book. I have had a Kamui last that long but it was also a flat tire when I finally pulled it off, and it went through the normal cycles of hardness and adjustment. These tips will play pretty much the same throughout their lifespan. If your the type that shapes your tip once or twice and then leaves them alone, these tips may last you a couple of years! The only reason I have to change them is I now shape them regularly and eventually they are too short, at three dollars I'm not really concerned about saving money here. With forty dollar tips I feel compelled to get every last shot out of them, for better or worse.

I strongly recommend these tips to everyone!
