Millionaire Pool Players

There have been no doubt a few players that have made a million dollars just from playing pool. Luther Lassiter is one of them. There are probably several more that no one has ever heard about. The problem seems to be that people are only thinking of todays players. Back when pool was pool and great hustlers roamed the country, big money was bet on pool nonstop. Nothing like it is today.

Lassiter was not a millionaire. He may have won over a million dollars in gambling...but he didn't keep it. He lived on a small monthly allowance given to him by a wealthy oil man and lived with his sister when he died.

Ronnie Allen claims to have won over a million in his career, but unfortunately he is far from a millionaire.

In the gambling world - the money is easily WON and easily LOST.

I agree. Lassiter was not a millionaire and died poor, but there is no doubt he won over a million dollars playing pool.

What a difference 20 years makes. Both Filler and Gorst have about $1.3 million "legit" earnings in tournaments in their short careers, and SVB is over $2 million at this point. And he got good advice from his family, and invested a decent portion of that into real estate....

the few that have won and kept it, won it gambling. i know a few.

in 20 or 30 years of traveling you spend a million dollars unless you sleep in your car. so a million breaks you even.

Willie Hoppe was known as the first millionaire in billiards.
Alex was about a million and a half almost two decades ago.

I’ve heard svb is .. he apparently has been very smart with his money and has invested in property and such.
