Any pool halls out there? Any places I should stay away? Heading out there the 16 for a week for a training class and was hoping I'll be able to hit some balls.

Also, does anyone know if I can bring my cues with ME! I won't be able to leave them in cargo hold!

Thanks!:) do you know if they allow cue case aboard plane as a carry on?

No, have to ship it ahead or check it as luggage.

Or inside luggage which is how I get my son's cue to Jr Nationals. Which coincidentally we had one in Romines. It's a good room although don't know how close to the city it is. I think they have all GCs and one older Diamond.

Will you be staying in Downtown Milwaukee? What kind of transportation will you be using? I can give better details when I have these answers.

Pool Halls in Milwaukee area

I think that there are a couple of places to play in Waukesha with big tables and maybe one in Menomonee Falls. Romine's is the only place actually in Milwaukee with big tables and a lot of them. A cool place to go play on Valley barboxes is Scaffidi's Hideout. They have a lot of players that frequent there and you can find cheap action just about any night of the week. Also Shephards in West Allis and Stages in Milwaukee...again bars with a few pool tables and players who are regulars that will play for the table, drinks, or the cash.

I believe the town is mequon?!?! I'll be in "Milwaukee" for my training, the hotel is 10 minutes from training! Sorry, right now that's the best details I got! I'll know more this coming Sunday. I fly out on Monday:)

Not sure about cues yet:( I only want to play with mine and I don't want to put them in cargo hold! Too worried about the temperature, but then again, the 2 flights are 1:45 min, and 45 min, so not sure how I feel about it!

Thanks for the responses

Eli

Don't worry about the flight, unless they lose them or some 500 lb guy sits on them, they won't get injured. We sent my son's cues though the flight 3 times, no issues at all. Only thing is the time between getting off the plane and seeing your luggage on the carrousel, I always get nervous till I see it LOL Another idea is to bring your shaft and a cheap butt for it. I did that when I went to Vegas, my son's cue, one of my shafts and I bought a $50 McDermott Lucky cue to play with it. Less weight in luggage on way there and no worries that my cue will get lost or damaged.

Dude! If you're in Milwaukee go play with Willie Munson in Milwaukee at Romines. Depending on how far you want to drive there's KK billiards in Green Bay or Appleton.

Did you lock the case in any way other than it's normal way of closing the cover? You weren't worried about the cold?

Did not lock anything, although not a bad idea to stick one of those luggage locks on the bag. I had it in a large suitcase, fit tight diagonally with clothing for us two for a couple of days. Not worried about the cold, never had issues with any of my cues due to temperatures. My Joss sat in my car I'd say for 2-3 years straight when I stopped playing for a while. When I took it out, it was as straight as ever, with no finish cracks or anything. Just smelled like 8 years of smoke LOL. 3 years in a car with no issues, 3 flights with son's cue, no issues, also the cheap McDermott Lucky I got in Vegas did fine with the flight.

I do have to say that all my flights were in summer so more heat than cold in my case on the plane.

Willie is 76 and plays everything. He's an old school player who was a touring pro for a while (20 years). Probably the must knowledgeable player in Wisconsin.

The "willie Hoppe pro" cue I received from the original owner, played quite a few matches with "Tony Romine and Willie Munson". Tell "willie, dick sent you"

I was there with Alex for the first Jr Nationals he played in. We had a lot of fun there, can watch the airplanes go overhead which got to be a joke after the first day since there were so many. Pretty cool that you got a chance to visit the same place.

Yeah!! I'm not much of a traveler but my new line of work may have some traveling involved here and there. So hopefully I'll be able to visit other places!

I would like to say again that I had an awesome time playing 1-pocket with Willie Munson, I watched a couple of his videos on line and realized how easy he was taking it on me;) He is a real gentleman and a wealth of knowledge! I wish I could of spent more time with him!
