Anyone out here been in Vegas this year for the Pool league World Championships and attempt to play in the minis? This is my first year and I must say I've been pretty disappointed in how these have been run (ie. the slowness and long lines). But I don't have previous years' experience to compare to. Others have thoughts?

It's not like you can't get in a lot of pool (and win money) playing mini-tournaments - but you'll probably have more fun watching the pros or playing on practice tables with your friends.

Every event I have been to that was decently large (SBE for example) had a mess with the mini tournament. Very late starts, waiting in line. Usually the play went quickly due to large number of tables, just everything else was not worth the hassle. Look for some local pool halls also, many times they run tournaments during the event times and stay open later. I wanted to play in a few at SBE, they started at like midnight or 1 AM LOL Yea, no we won't be doing that, I don't do speed or coke to stay up that late and be able to play in the morning. Even the league minis take a long time to get going, I was in the 7s in TAP and that took like an hour of waiting to get 8 players in that field to even start it.
