Minnesota Pool Scene

There is an airport in Des Moines ... Unless you were being facetious, in which case I look like an idiot.

Facetious, yes. Idiot, no.

Here's a picture of the Des Moines airport.

I'm from wi but i'm in minn all the time

we cant let iowas scene seem better than ours on this site. Keep it alive and we can keep a thread about mn pool!

hi there ,
i'm in minn all the time because of the smoking ban. No smoke in minn. Wis is like one big ashtray.

The twni cities has it going on. There's someplace to go play in a tournament every night. They got a little bit of everything.

Some nice poolrooms also and the players are the best. Just as nice as anywhere in the country.

It's just fun to play in the tournaments just to hang with everyone.

Can't wait until my shoulder heals up. The doc just told me i need the sling on for 6 more weeks and no pool until the end of july or begining of august.

It's been pretty boring for the last week. The first 3 weeks were ok because the pain kept me company if you know what i mean.

In another week i hope i can travel more in the car so i can drive to the cities and give some lessons.

I know the players better than the ones in wi.

I might move there real soon.

Kind of a tradgedy..........

mn pool has all sorts of drama. Here is a taste..the best players in the state aren't allowed to play in "open" tournaments.

hi there,

i think it's a shame. Nothin like taking a guys cue right out of his hands. Especially if he lives right there.

What's he supposed to do if he wants to play. Play by himself.

I say bring em on. The tougher the better. It steps up the bar overall.

Look what tiger did for golf. He raised the bar. Every great player raises the bar whereever they are.

Besides, when this shoulder heals up,by august says the doc, i want to bang heads with some of these guys like, jimmy wetch and lee weihagen, sorry about the spelling. I want to play some great players in some tournaments without having to travel 500 miles. We already have some great players here but the more the merrier.

It's nice to have a traffic jam of great players at the end of a tournament instead of people saying how did that guy get that far.

Bring em on i say............. It's better for everyone............

Great topic.

We had some minnesota guys come down for Saturday tournaments before, the only one who ever did well was the Tin Man aka Demi Jelatis who is a friend of mine. The rest of the guys who came down, only one has cashed. Put that in a pipe and smoke til your stoned! I'm not barking, just stating the facts. Hell Iowa players go on the road to Minneapolis to pump up haha!

ouch! I think I was the only other MN player other than Demi I saw at your ring game

<- I suck at ring games so it's true :)

Old joke... Funnier if you remember back about 20 years...

What happens when you fail the drivers test 3 times in Iowa?

They give you a blue license plate!

What MINNESOTA and IOWA players need is good fertile neutral ground, an inviting sanctuary with a good pool tournament. I suppose we COULD build a pool hall on a barge in the Mississippi river.

But a BETTER idea is for everybody to put JULY 23-25 on their calendars. That's when you can all come up to Fargo for the FARGO SUMMER SHOOTOUT. There'll be a 9-ball tournament (capped at 80 players) that starts Friday at 6:00 pm

--and an 8-ball tournament (capped at 128 players) that starts Saturday at 11:00 am.

Oh, and we're adding $3,300

This is all on 7' Diamonds, but I'm sure we can arange a couple ring games on the 9-foot tables.

Maybe we can have a sling-removal ceremony for Geno !
