Minnesota Winter

It's cold here. Really cold.

My family is in the process of purchasing a home, and due to financial restraints, I'm unable to purchase a home with a gymnasium for a family room to accomodate a 9' pool table. Actually, I have a room upstairs that it will fit in, but if my calculations are correct, I'll have just 8 inches of room on each side to walk between the table and the wall...so, no good there.
We're looking into buying a townhome and were wondering if anyone has 'winterized' their garage to use as their own personal pool hall. I already bought the sign that says the pool hall belongs to me, so as you can plainly see, I'm committed into purchasing a table. I've explained this to my wife, but she doesn't seem to understand. Please help.

Why winterize the garage? Just get a used house furnace and put it in the garage, set it to 50 degrees or so, and your set. Turn it up an hour or two before you plan to play.

If you have a bar in there, I am coming over.

BTW, it's not really that cold this year. You haven't seen nothin yet...

Wow, TheBigLebowski, movies don't post on the forum that often. By the way, you're a great movie.

Good luck solving your puzzle, but I was wondering how people in Minnesota felt about the loss of the NHL hockey season. Is hockey still alive and well on the many frozen ponds and lakes of Minnesota? Has hockey lost any of its glamour to the average Minnesotan?

Not that cold.

You're right, it's been pretty nice this winter besides the week or two. I'm from northern Minnesota, 10 minutes from Emberass. I remember the night it was -60. What fun times. Great day to go skiing. Nothing like freezing a smile on your face indefinately. I don't know about the bar, but I DO have two mini refrigerators for nice cold beers, but that is an idea. A Beermiester never killed anyone...hmm.

Hey
I lived in Ely for 3 years in the late 90s. we called it "piss and lean on it cold".
Miss the real winters and the Northern lights. I learned to play board games and drink Pigs Eye! Both in copious amounts.

I'm from north of northern Minnesota, and knowing a bit about winter I wonder why you use a mini-fridge in the winter to keep your beer cold ? That's what the deck is for !!!

As far as garage retrofits, there are a few snooker tables in double garages around Saskatchewan from what I've heard (you think finding room for a 9' table is difficult ....).

Dave, who knows enough to bring the beer in before they freeze :)
