I think Grady has beef with the UPA, and therefore will not play in any UPA-sanctioned event.

Ryan McCreesh just had a baby boy last month. His newborn son did have a few medical maladies, but did manage to overcome them and is healthy and fine. Though I know Ryan really wanted to come to the Open this year, he has a strong sense of family values and wouldn't leave his lady's side for anything in this world. Ryan's a good kid, and I do miss him, but there's always next year.

As far as some of the missing players, I'm not sure what the reasoning is. For some, it could be a matter of pure finances. It is expensive to attend the 8-day-long U.S. Open. I think some players, like Sparky as an example, do have full-time jobs these days, too. He did attend the Carolinas Open which transpired a week or so ago. We would have liked to have gone to Goldsboro to play in that tournament, but with the U.S. Open happening the next week, it was just too long to be away from the homefront.

I think it is fantastic that there are so many great pool events occurring, and I wish I could attend every single one. But when you have to keep a roof over your head, it's just darn tough to keep up with the tournament trail.

Erik Hjorleifsen & Jason Klatt

Where are Erik Hjorleifson and Jason Klatt, the kids from Canada? Erik took 9-12 with last year in this thing, and I'm pretty sure that Klatt won a match or two.

Jason Klatt is playing at the world juinors in Austria, he won his first match.

Hi

It is tough to keep a roof over your head especially with guys like Brady stiffing some of the players. But I do hope Keith does well, his colorfull personality reminds me somewhat of a player that I grew up watching and learning from and I'm sure this name will ring a bell as he won the US Open one year the late but at times great 'Saint Louie' Louie Roberts.
Sincerely, Danny 'boy' Harriman

Danny ... I have the utmost respect for you and your game, and have talked with you here in Wichita at the Midwest 9 ball events. Your situation sounds like it will never resolve itself, so it is time to put it to bed, and quit using it as a whipping post forever. You are a better player and sportsman than that.
Hell, I have been airballed more than 2 big ones, and you probably have too, outside of tournaments, so just let it go, and lets see what you can do in the future ...

Varner is playing. and playing well.
Yes, he is. He took me out last night pretty handily, 11-3. I knew I was in trouble when he hit that jump 1-9 carom in the 2nd rack. From there to 7-0, all I did was kick and flub safeties. I didn't get an offensive shot until then. He got control, and kept control. Like I said in another thread, though, it's great to see him back on the tournament trail.

Ya well

I'm currently waking up, between the UPa and Brady I have decided to work on something else so please quit asking when I will return to Pro pool if you want to call it that. When they start treating the players better as in having referees for every table, when the promoters quit trying to muscle the players around, as in Frank Alvarez. I have some work to do on myself but not as much as the Pro Pool and that is pretty bad for anyone who really knows me, but by exiting stage left I will move on and watch the players go broke instead of being one of those players. I feel that by staying at home I will save $, it is more about who you know on the men's tour than how well you play. I will never kiss anyones ass on the UPA, there are some nice people involved but I will not play any more events untill I am paid the full amount of what it is I'm owed. I must say that my finishes in the Open have been stong and I do consider myself one of the top fifteen players in the world when I'm on. I have been owed $ from gambling debts but never from a major tournament that was sanctioned by the UPa, so when they told me I was technically not a Pro cause I had not paid my membership fee when all the while they owed me $ I saw the light.
If you want to see me play on TV then you had better tape a match that is a rerun because I see my pool career has ended, it was fun but as my friend Dave Matlock said to me "The Party's Over."

Well Danny Boy, whatever floats your boat, and best of luck in your new career. I would just like to let you know that there are A-holes in every profession out there. Everybody below you wants to knock you down and everybody above you looks down on ya. I lost $4,600 two years in a row because someone in the corporate world took what I said the wrong way and complained to HR. ( Human Resources ) I had recieved Highly Successful reviews 14 years in a row. I dam near have every award they give out. So don't feel like the Lone Ranger buddy, you ain't the only one who has been fu@ked royally.

I didn't see Buddy Hall's name in the brackets.

He played James Walden in his match, and lost. He is on the loser's
side in bracket 1.

Danny ... I guess we will never know whether you are in the top 15 pros
or not. I wish you luck whatever you do. Just don't use this excuse
20 years from now for what you 'could have done' in life. We all have
problems in life, many of them a lot larger and more important than this
one of yours.

I worked for an Aircraft Company for 18 1/2 years, always been part
of the skeleton crew, never been layed off, professional job, got told
all was well on a Friday afternoon, got called in before lunch on the
next Monday, and laid off because of a downsizing. Then they told me
I had 20 minutes to go back to my building, pack my stuff in a box,
and get off of company property.

It's not the problems you have in life, Danny, it's how you handle them.

Re: Snapshot

Thanks for the intelligent response Snapshot, I must say that I have accomplished what I wanted to in the area of nine ball. For about 12 yrs. I managed to stay in the top 15 so I would think that settles any doubts, But now that I am really playing well there just is not enough $ or tour organization to keep me grinding out there on the road.
Sincerely, Danny 'boy' Harriman
