Missoula Montana ?

I will be in Missoula Montana a few weeks for a few days orientation for a new job before I head out on the road again. Any good places to play pool in the city? I was told of a Bucks Club that has a pool tournament a few nights per weeks. Any locals know about the Bucks Club?

DO NOT go to Buck's club, the tournaments are the shittiest ever
how's double elimination RACE TO 1 for ya
plus they don't cotton to outsiders much ( we were from only 120 miles away and it was a tense situation for the whole night)
If you're looking for some action contact Jack Madden on the boards here, he can put you in touch with Q-Ball or Fudzy

If you're going to play, hit the college,( 9-10 9" GC's ) or Five Valleys Bowl ( 3 nice 9' GC's and 2.50 an hour table time)

Westside? I was there a few weeks ago for State bowling and didn't see any tables. As far as Paradise, I guess I've never heard of it, you might be thinking of Palace Billiards but it closed last year

What's the place that was downstairs on a main drag; had a bar, maybe 15 9-foot tables? I was there two years ago while driving my daughter out to Oregon.

We stopped for the night after driving from Fargo and entered the place just in time for me to enter the $10 entry weekly tournament. There were eight players, and it paid 50/30.

I won the tournament, so I got the 50. Then the second-place guy asked me to play some for $5 a game. Even though he played at about my speed, I won the first 6 games and he quit.

My daughter was impressed that we left with ALL the money.

----of course none of the players showed up that night...

Assume you mean the College in Missoula? (University of Montana, Missoula) Where on the campus is the room, and are you saying they allow non student to use the facility?

The UM gameroom is on the 2nd floor of the University Center, and is open 7 days a week. Of course nonstudents can play there. ANY facilities at a state-funded college or university are available to the public...that's part of the charter. Of course, there may be fees associated with said use, that students don't have to pay...but the public is always allowed.

Actually students do have to pay ( a buddy goes there, is the billiards class instructor, and still has to cough up every time) the only bad thing is that they're only open until 10:00 PM

Jake...I wasn't saying the students don't have to pay. I was saying that often, a nonstudent pays a higher table rate than a student. This is true at some schools, and not at others.:D

Oh, I gotcha, it's some kinda horseshit though, when the Billiards class instructor has to pay table time on the college's tables

Sheesh, now my age is showing. Westside used to have tables. I used to play there on Saturdays after finishing up on league bowling. Wonder when they removed the tables?

I am thinking of Palace, but again haven't been there for ages. Bummer to hear they closed down, too. Oh well, that's what I get for taking a 10+ year hiatus from the game.

How'd you do bowling? I used to bowl as a junior in the early nineties. I bowled alot around the state and ended up winning the Junior traveling league finals in 93. Place top five a couple times in state, too.

I didn't bowl, I just went down with my brother ( he did okay in doubles and team) to hang out

All I know is "...the world outside, which my brother and I soon discovered was full of bastards, the number increasing rapidly the farther one gets from Missoula, Montana."
