Mizerak butt weights

Hello and please don't shoot me... :) I am looking for a weight for a Steve Mizerak cue. I know. I shouldn't be asking... BUT,,, I need one and unfortunately this cue has a weird weight system.. It is basically like a Meucci weight, but it is course thread and barely any thread on it at all. It takes a 5/16 Allen wrench and the Meucci weights are too wide to go in the same hole even though it is the same Allen head wrench that fits both. Any takers to sell me one? :)

A picture is needed….Steve’s name went on several brands of cues.

Here's the Mizerak cue I got about 1995. I shortened the ferrule on the ramin wood shaft so it plays very well for the price. No weight system.

If it can be a fixed weight how about just epoxying a weight in?

Alternatively, a machine shop should be able to make one pretty easily if you have an example weight.

take it from a guy who bought the cheapest cue around and still has the price tag on it almost 30 years later.
:)
:)
and if you happened to buy 40 shares of apple then for 25 cents a share. then around 7,000 that cue has cost you.
nice investment bob.

@pt109 @tg_vegas any thoughts on having one that I could purchase?
Miz had a lot of those cues in Lake Park, FL….I was offered a lot of them but I was a long way from home.
…..that’s like 20 years ago…..if you could track down Karen Mizerak….there still might some in storage.

That is a very odd size/pitch combination but any shop with a metal lathe should be able to whip one up quickly.

The major diameter is close to 9/16" but not quite there. The thread depth also appears to be very shallow and at 8 tpi is certainly not standard.I could make you one but I don't have a gear setup for 8 tpi on my thread mill.

Just take the one you have in, and get one (or two) made that is longer and then you can get to whatever weight you want.

Another option might be, depending on how tight the Meucci bolts are, would be to retap the butt to the Meucci size and just use theirs.

The Meucci bolts are 5/8-11 UNC with a nominal diameter of 0.625 and the photos you include show yours around 0.55 so it would appear you have about 0.070 to work with. I'd go this route if it were me.

I'd be willing to do this work for you if you want. If you do, just PM me. I have a an internal live threading setup that could get this done fairly easily.

The problem I have is I live in the middle of nowhere… :-) …. And all the machine shop around here won’t stop to make me a small piece like this and if they do it will $30 or more… crazy but I wish I had a lathe… anyway… thanks for the info everyone… :)

30 dollars,,,,,, that is the cost of some tips for your cue. do you think a shop works for nothing and do you?
