Yes, a man of great distinction. Most of us are too young to have heard his "I Have a Dream" speech when it was given, and few have ever taken the trouble to read the text. I have done so and it's a masterpiece, in which he uses the metaphor of the Declaration of Independence being a still unpaid promissory note in the case of people of his race. Read the text if you get a chance.
I think the two greatest speeches ever made on American soil are Lincoln's "House Divided" speech and Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech.
