I posted in this section because this is were we come when we are looking for something. If your looking for a 314-2, then you might want to consider what I did.
Today in the mail I received a special 314-2 shaft. I had asked Kevin Varney to start with a blank and add his modifications and then match the pin in my piloted cue. I provided the measurements for the pin placement, depth and shaft diameter.
The result was perfect. It tightened into the butt like they were married. No overlap on the joint. The ferrule is a Sabre-T and the tip a Sniper. The work on the ferrule was perfect. I work on cues a little too, so I really checked it out.
So it fit good and looked good, how does it play? It plays solid. Much more feedback that old 314, and the deflection is also less, even with the mods. Plays close, by feel, to my regular shaft, but with less deflection.
Kevin did alot of work to make it to my specs. (I am very picky about shafts and tips). He deserves acknowledgement for that, this endorsement of his modifications on Predator shafts. Try it if you don't like the feel or the feedback from the Predator shaft and you will be surprised.
Others may disagree on modifying a Predator shaft, for what ever reason. This one worked out well for me.
