what is the difference between the Blomdahl model and the rest of the 3 cues on the right side ,,

I have notices that Blomdahl model has a 30 piece butt, while the rest has a 4 piece core...

Any ideas experts and non experts ?

From talking with the US rep, I am led to believe that the main difference is in fact in the workmanship/labor/materials in the butt. The joint and shaft are the same. The Molinari line feature the Uni-Loc joint (their exclusive!) mated with the predator 314 for carom shaft.

more ..
The design of P3 eliminates traditional wooden joints in favor of Phenolic, one of the strongest materials on earth. So the P3 is stronger, straighter and more durable - and it'll stay that way for a long time to come.

You'll never see the game the same way again once you play with a P3 - the most forward-thinking cue Predator's ever made. The customizable weight cartridge system lets you fine tune P3 within a tenth of an ounce for a playing experience that's totally yours. Then there's the unprecedented 30-piece construction and dense Ash core for better straightness and the astonishingly solid feel that other players only dream about.

30-PIECE CORE - FOR REVOLUTIONARY STIFFNESS AND FEEL
Once again, Predator leads the industry forward in a big way. Built in three distinct layers of alternating Hard Maple and Ash, the unprecedented 30-piece core maximizes stiffness and increases playability. You will hear the crisp, high-pitched sound of perfectly pure feedback.

CARTRIDGE SYSTEM - TO FINE-TUNE YOUR GAME WITH PRECISION
The customizable Uni-Loc® Weight Cartridge System allows you to fine-tune P3 within a tenth of an ounce, giving you up to 30 possible weight combinations, one of which is sure to be your perfect formula for destruction.

Some other concerns re the Blomdahl P3 3 cushion cue:
1. Is this the same P3 butt that is currently being sold as a pool cue? Historically, carom cue butt diameters are larger than pool cue butts.
2. Predator 314-2 3 cushion shaft.
What does "custom" mean in the shaft taper? Supposedly, its a "conical taper". Does the word "custom" mean they will modify it to your specific needs?

On a different subject, I believe Molinari only offers the type of cue extension that goes between butt and shaft. I feel that it is more awkward and time-consuming than say, Longoni's 3Lobite system or other universal extensions that just connect to the butt end. Does anyone have some evidence of merit to extenters between shaft/butt?

Alfred,

I heard that Molinari is working on extension system , It's coming up in December , I totally agree that the Current extension between the Butt and the Shaft suck. This system came up 15 years ago with schuler cue, When you play time clock it takes forever ,( better to have 2 cues)

But for us it dosen't matter , No limit , no referee, You can smoke a cigarette between shots, lolll.

my 2 cents : it will be the "trilobite"/longoni butt extension system...

Hector,

May I ask..... How do you know or which methods of testing that conclude the cue has very little deflection?

Thx

This what Blomdhal said based on his testing. I'm sure he knows what he is talking about. my informal testing was to aim to hit a long thin ball with outside English and it seemed to be on target.

Just as an effective test is aiming to hit frozen ball full in the face on the short cushion with the cue ball 9' away with EXTREME 3 or 9 O'clock English!

Just butt construction and cosmetics.

Molinari extension: single-turn attachment

The Molinari extension attaches on the butt (not between the shaft and butt) with a single turn. They have been on backorder but are expected to arrive soon. They are also daisy-chainable. I like to keep two linked together in my case for those long hard-to-reach shots.

I'd love to try shooting with one before purchasing one. I'll be at the Verhoven Open most likely on the Saturday if anyone has one and is around.

That is a problem with our internet stores these days. Unless you meet someone who has a cue you would like to try and is willing to let you do so you are out of luck.
