Monarch vs Champion Pro

I know there are a lot of Olhausen fans out there. I was trying to pick between a Connelly Prescott and a Champion Pro for my house. I've decided to go with the Olhausen line, but now the choice is between a 9' Monarch and Champion Pro. As I understand it, the only difference is in the sub-supports (Champion Pro can hold an elephant (?!); Monarch can probably hold a few buffalo). The table weights differ by about 100 lbs, so both should be stable enough. The cushion, rail and slate components and setups are the same, so the tables should play the same. Since I don't have any large animals, the Monarch should serve me well. Anybody out there make a similar comparison? What did/would you choose?

I've got a Champion Pro that came from the innaugural Sudden Death 7-Ball/Trick Shot Magic tournamet held at the ESPN Zone in Chicago. It's a great table and I love it. The corner pockets are tight, but it makes for good practice, especially before I go out to play bar leagues.

How tight are the corner pockets?

They look to measure the BCA Equipment Spec. minimum of about 4 7/8", but they are very deep and rattle balls very easily. Maybe it's the way they are cut? It teaches me to baby the balls a bit more. A few years ago, I went to our state BCA tourney and they had brought in Diamond bar tables instead of the ususal Valley Cougars. Many people complained about how tight the corners played, but they were very characteristic of my table. I was very comfortable with them.

4 7/8" ? That's huge. The end rail facing's angle must be too flat. That's why it's ratteling balls. Diamond tables's pro cut corner pockets are less than 4 1/2 and very flat angles at the bottom rails' facing. They are brutal.
Imo less than 4 1/2 is tight. 4 1/2 with almost parallel facings ( Ernesto Dominguez style) is just right imo.

the monarch is basically the home version on the champ. pro./ wood in stead of high impact laminate. i sell olhausens by the way. there are several wood and finishs ava. for the monarch / champ pro has lots of lam. finishes also but those will be an upcharge. but, in the end they are pretty much the same table, frames actually are the same. good luck with your decsion.

I just measured the pockets in the pool halls that I frequent and the tables have 5 1/8" corners and 5 1/2" sides! It makes me wonder how I ever miss a ball. Then I realize just how bad I am...lol.
