Monster Cue Making!

It's always a lot of fun to visit with your favorite cuemaker. Yesterday, I took a drive to Baltimore with my fiance to get my newly completed Mike Cochran cue and visit with Tim and Mike.
The experience, as always, was a lot of laughs and a chance to see some serious cue making in progress. Tim jokingly likes the colorful metaphores that we all apply to the way our cues play, like: "it hits a ton" and "it's got a monster hit". There is real magic that comes out of this shop! and some real monsters too!

I couldn't be more impressed with Mike's work as he has assembled me a tremendous player. (more pictures to come)

So here's Tim and Mike making some monster players, and for some AZ'ers a glimpse at their cues in progress! And as always, enjoy the pictures!

Best in the business.

I agree, two of the best and nicest guys in the business. I have visited their shop on a number of occasions. Although I have yet to purchase one of there cues. I have always been well received and treated with respect and kindness. Whenever I see that box of cues in progress it really makes my head spin. I always go there with some design and color scheme in mind and then I see that box with all those great cues. The flawless points and veneer color combinations seem endless, adding to my dilema of finding just one perfect combination. One of these days I tell you I will own at least one of there cues. In the meantime I keep dreaming.

By the way, great pictures of Tim, Mike and the shop for those not yet fortunate enough to have visited them.

:) Big smile here! :)

I just called my wife over to see the pictures of Timi! We both smiled in amazement!
Tim you look marvelous!!!! You look so much younger and stronger than you did last year during our visit. We are very happy to see you looking great. Looks like a full recovery from here except I have to ask when I talk to you next time, when was the last time you were in that good of shape?
Thanks for the pictures Mr Ralph!
And Mr Tim all I can say is amazing. Although I say this about the cues you and Mike make all the time, this time I am talking about how strong you look.
Your buddy:)

Marcus, I measured 1.225 in the middle of the butt sleeve as opposed to the norm 1.250. so yes it is a bit slimmer. Joint is .845 or just a tad over.

Handle diameter is about the same. Great balance!
shaft wt. 4.0 oz
butt wt. 15.25 oz

When I went to visit a few years back, I was drooling at the stuff he was working on...a lot of snakewood and cocobolo stuff in the first pic. I still have a good laugh whenever I see the No Foreign Cues Allowed sign.

WOW!
Dream shop.
The other cues with no " buzz" ring interest me.
Also some of the handles look like mahogany or rosewood.

If your cue is anything like my 8 pointer!

You will never buy another player! Mine broke me from buying cues to play with. But I have to admit the Scruggs you just shipped me gives me pause. After talking with you I think we are in agreement. We are truely lucky to own one of Mike's new cues!
Thanks for the call Hitman. Told ya!
Nick:)

Just wondering if anyone else noticed the bag-o-white-crayons in the picture of the glued-up veneers/points. Any idea what they could be used for in the shop?

I couldn't help noticing

The ebony forearm six point blue veneer cue with the ivory joint in the blank rack! How old is that picture? Never mind. The six point green and white veneer blank next to it looks familiar! I think that one came to me a few years back! Now I know where to go to see it.

maybe tim is against elephant poaching, so the white crayola is an ivory substitute?? ;)
