thinking of changing my tip and was wondering which one everybody prefers? i was leaning towards choosing a moori med or quick. I have also heard good things about sniper tips. just wanted to get peoples opinion on the tips and maybe a recommendation of which one to choose. thanks in advance for all the replies.

They had a post over at Billiards digest on this and one guy said he prefers the harder quick tip for nine ball and the power shots it offers and the moori medium for the finnesse shots of straight pool.

The name of the thread is"leaving asap to get new tip help"

Feel free to check it out. RJ

I like to keep my tip the same shape (dime), and it seems to me that all Moori tips work equally well, so I prefer the Quick because my tip retains its shape longer (don't need to be re-shaping it as often, and don't need to be replacing the tip as often.)

Note that if switching from a medium to a hard, it may take a few months to get adjusted to. Same thing with changing the shape (like from nickel to dime).

I feel the best thing to do is to pick a brand/hardness of tip and shape of tip, then stick with that forever. Will make for more consistent play...

Does the nickel shape give you more ability to draw then the dime shape?
I find if you have a quality tip, then any brand will suffice.I do believe its the shape that is probably the most important.

So far as drawing and tip shape, look at the following high speed video.
http://www.engr.colostate.edu/~dga/pool/high_speed_videos/new/HSVA-38.htm

Notice that a curve on the tip certainly helps! As to how much curve works best (between flat and egg shaped for extremes), no one knows because no one has ever researched this with a robot! (Wish someone would...)

Anyway I feel a dime shape is better. But I can *draw* with anything.

The question is consistently drawing back a specific distance. For that, I feel I will be more consistent if I always have the same brand/hardness of tip and always have the same shape of tip. Then always keeping tip surface in good condition and always applying chalk before each draw shot, especially around the sides of the tip.

So if your always switching tips, shapes of tips, etc. I would imagine that being consistent would be more difficult. Proof of this is whenever someone gets a new tip installed on their cue. Suddenly their playing goes out the window...

Well they did not know what brand/hardness/radius their old tip was, and probably got something different. I get the same exact tip, same hardness, and same tip shape - and bingo! It plays the same...

I have a sniper...don't like it. I'd go for a moori quick

The Moori medium has gotten harder in the last few years. I have some of the old 'soft' medium Moori tips and I sincerly think that they play softer, which I prefer. So next time I will get the Moori soft tip.

I have Moori S (Slow) and it plays great. Nowadays I like more softer tips and Moori's soft version is perfect for me.
