More cue talk

I have the impression that Bill Schick
was a prolific cue builder yet I don't
see much comment about his cues on
here. Was he too prolific? Do they not
hit well?

I realize there are a lot of cue builders
that don't get a lot of attention here but
if Schick made a lot of cues they should be
"in play".

Why aren't they?

I started reading this forum in 2004. Created an account in 2005 and followed the For sale forum closely from that day on. I have seen some real funny shit go on from cue makers giving heavy discounts or free cues for a great write up to selling cues for next to nothing in bulk and having one or two of the cue pimps praise their stuff. And some much worse stuff i won't type in.

To the OP. Bill Schick is one of the best cue makers ever to live. He is certainly top 10 IMO. What you will find is, in some cases the top cues from the top makers are kept private, not shown online for whatever reason

It's my favorite cue. Nothing hits equal, let alone better. I have played with mine for the past 15 years.

Although I have never hit a ball with a Bill Schick cue, I have seen several examples of his work, and they were beautiful cues. Very artistic.
One afternoon, Andy Gilbert (who was a student of Schick, by-the-way) was showing me one of Bill's cues that had a slight warp at the bottom of the handle that needed repair. After I took a quick look at the cue, he unceremoniously, went over to the band saw and cut it in half. I nearly had a another heart attack.
A couple of weeks later I saw the cue again, and it looked as good as new.
Andy said it's value was around $7000.00, and that was ten years ago. :smile:
