More games and sets needed to be played IMO

I've never liked one race in 14.1 to see who the better player is even if it's a race to 500. One player can run 100 or more off the bat and the other player has too go all offence to catch him. The player's in the lead can steamroll. Best 2 out of three would be more like it.

In 9 and 10-ball I think best 2 out of three races to 25 would be a better indicator of who is the best. One race to 21 with one guy finding his break first and putting together some packs is hard to comeback from for the other guy in a match to 21.

One-hole and banks I don't play or watch that often, so I really can't say what would be a fair amount of games to play to see who is best. But I think it should be three sets 2 out of three for both. Johnnyt
 
IMO Championships should be:

Race in 14.1 should be at least 3000 points over at least 2 weeks (3 or 4 weeks are preferable)

8, 9 and 10 ball should be a '12 ahead' match for a Championship

One Pocket should be a '5 ahead' match for Championships.

Now the problem is finding someone to stand around to referee these events and also Fans willing to pay $$$ to watch to help pay for the Prize Fund.

And there has to be a special VENUE for these spectacular championships.
 
I agree that a ahead set is better than a race to...but the same can happen in 9 and 10-ball in a ahead set. 3000 pts in 14.1 would work but good luck talking players and promoters into that lol. Johnnyt
 
In a perfect world these are great ideas but at such a scary time when it looks as if men's pool might be exctint from tv we need ideas that would be better for tv.

With more men's pool on tv the players will make so much more money.

What game and format is best for tv? The races to 3000 would be perfect for the afterlife when we have all of etenity to watch.
 
Straight pool will never tell who the better player overall is. Why do you think there are so many side events where you just get a break shot and see how many you can run. No need to have another player there.
