More Rep to give !

I must be really out of it, but I really don't understand how the rep points work. On my UserCP it says I have 29 points... where did they come from, what do they mean? I see many posters have lots of green boxes... does it take a certain amount of points to earn a new green square? I couldn't find anything in the forum FAQ that explains anything about rep points at all. ? Can someone explain?

I''m no expert but the way I understand it is in your userCP you can see who recently gave you rep for a post and their comments.
The amount of rep points given varies by how many rep points that poster has.
You acquire new green boxes when you get a certain number of rep points. I understand it is one box for each 100 points.
That is about all I know. Hope it helps

To further clarify, your reputation level actually goes up every fifty points, it seems. Thus, you can have two persons with the same number of greenies, but with different reputation levels (one who has 135 points would be listed as "----- will be famous soon enough, and one who has 155 points would be listed as "------- has a spectacular aura about him", but both would have two greenies).
