FYI, I just posted a new video that discusses and demonstrates many shot effects, including CB deflection, that are different under slick or waxed conditions compared to typical conditions. These effects are important to know when playing under different conditions. I also compare the effects of Turtle Wax vs. Silicone Spray on CB reaction. Check it out:

Contents:
0:00 - Intro
1:00 - New Cushion Cloth
1:55 - Draw Comparison
3:25 - Reverse Spin
4:27 - Multiple-Rail Kicks
5:54 - Jump Shots
6:55 - Cue Ball Deflection
9:27 - More Info

As always, I look forward to your feedback, comments, questions, complaints, and requests.

Enjoy!

Dr. Dave, I have a table at home that plays close to "on-system". After improving some I reduced the pockets with rubber blocks and re-felted the table with CPBA brand cloth. New Aramith balls immediately after. I play on diamonds weekly in league and tournaments. I'm grown accustomed to adjusting my play and have done ok.

Do you think waxing a cue at home would result in my home table playing more like a diamond, especially now that the cloth has worn in? Based on all the information you've provided in your two videos I've come to that conclusion but would like your opinion. If there are no ill effects to waxing a cueball during practice I'll give it a try, maybe once every few months to simulate a slick table.

Diamond tables typically play short. You can get a Diamond to play "on system" with new cloth and a waxed CB. If you use a waxed CB at home, it will make your table play longer, not shorter. It think it is better to just learn how to adjust to different conditions. FYI, the table check-out procedures here can be helpful in this regard:
