Morgan Freeman

The things we do for pool...........

JoeyA - I really like the out of the box thinking here.

I like having the tradional setup where you have one commenator and then the color guy. Too often, you find two commentator types in the both at the same time. That's what I don't like. To me, it's seems like the best color guys are the great story tellers.

With that in mind, how about some authors from outside the pool world? Or even a local sports reporter type. Someone that doesn't take themselves too seriously, but yet has some contacts within the more popular sports circles.

Just throwing stuff out there...

Edit...

Still thinking out loud here.

The local sports reporter guy could be the local news guy. Often times I think they like the attention and it could be a good way to get them to actually do a story on pool for a change. Especially if it's right in their back yard.

I like what you are saying, A LOT.

In fact, I am going to telephone the Times Picayune newspaper, along with a couple of the local television stations to see if they want to explore this area. If you've seen my blog (not on AZB) then you know I'm not shy about calling the local newspaper to cover pocket billiards. :D

Tunica is a pretty good drive from New Orleans but reporters might do anything for a good story. :)

Thanks for the suggestion. I don't know why I hadn't thought of bringing in someone involved in sports, just not pool, before. It's a good idea. It would be great to hear their thoughts about how pool could be helped.

I can never remember to ask George Fels to visit my booth. I think I heard him maybe one time doing commentary but I can't be for sure. The way that guy writes, he would have to be great at commentary. Some people write better than they talk or vice versa but I'm betting he can do a soliloquy with the best of us.

Yeah, you've got me thinking about this. Have to run now, have a few phone calls to make.

Thanks again for the inspiration.

Joey thanx for make such a great effort to do something to pump up our sport. Pool is going to be making a turn for the better and efforts such as yours are going to be a part of it.

Thank you for noticing elvicash. Just to let you AZBers know, it not even easy to get a "No, not this time." from a celebrity. I do what I can. If I get tired or disgusted with the journey, I just do what any good Catholic would do, take a retreat. :D

Joey. Fat Boys tattoo artist also tattoos Johnny Depp.
Thats about as far as the knowing goes.

I know someone that knows someone that has a cousin that heard that someone that knows someone knows Johnny Depp.

Like having a cousin 50 times removed.

Joey and Hu are my Brothers from different Mothers.

Thats what we call each other at the Eagles Club. Brothers from different Mothers.

I was sleeping with this girl once until one night we started talking about relatives. Found out we were cousins approx 5 times removed. She wouldn't sleep with me any more. FKn relatives anyway. Thats not the Hill Billy spirit. Fun while it lasted anyway.

I've found out how hard it is to make contact with the stars, let alone to get a response. It's all good. Everyone has a path to travel and maybe, just maybe, one day Morgan Freeman will be sitting in the booth with JoeyA.

I just hate to ask anyone who isn't coming to the pool tournament to come and do commentary with me. Morgan Freeman was the exception because he lives so close to the tournament site (besides having a great voice and being able to shine a big light on pool in general).

I was talking with Cliff Joyner a few nights ago, (the soon to be Hall of Famer) and told him, that maybe he could shoot for Cisero Murphy in the movie when Morgan makes that blockbuster movie about pool. Cliff said he would be up for the job.

trying to contact a celebrity directly is next to impossible, its like ringing good old bill gates up and telling him about your ideas for Microsoft LOL. The most famous person, hes not so much famous and infamous, i know personally is Frank Lucas (The movie american gangster was made after him)

Joey if your looking for a celebrity I don't remember his name but he played Mr Wu on HBOs Deadwood. I met him at Derby a couple of different years. He loves one pocket.

i am trying hard to remember that writers name that lives in oxford. its one of those right on the tip of my tongue times.

he has written several books that were turned into movies. maybe you could get him interested in pool and he would write a book.

dang i cant think of his name, used to go by his house almost daily when i lived down that way.

there were a couple of his books that were turned into movies filmed in memphis. one starred gene hackman and tom cruise.
