Hello,

I have been having a bad run with morri tips staying glued on. I have tried several different types of superglue (all purchased at the local hardware store). Is it the glue? I've used Morri s and m and both have come off right away. I'm putting these onto P314 shafts. Please help if you can. Thanks,

either take it to the local cuemaker, or ask the local cuemaker what they use.

are you making sure that the ferrule is clean before you apply the glue?

yep

Everything is clean. I'm wondering if a bad batch of tips were out there? I've been calling other cuemakers and they all say normal superglue should work. hmmm....

Use Loctite super glue gel or 454.
Make sure the face of your ferrule is flat and scratch it after with a 320 grit paper ( at least ).

I just use regular old Tweeten's cement. As long as both surfaces are clean and sanded, it works fine - I've never had one come off and I have medium Moori's on 5 of my cues.

The 314 ferrule is a bit more difficult to glue on. I like to clamp the tip to the ferrule for a few hours when I am doing 314 shaft. And I use Loctite 454, which I store in the fridge. Also, please make sure you are also sanding down the bottom of the tip and face the ferrule making sure it is completely level.
I used to have problems with Moori coming off 314 ferrules but after I switched to 454 I have never had any problem.
Another thing I used to do was pressing the tip too hard which in essence drove out almost all the glue. Now, I let the tip sit on the ferrule, clamp it, and just let it set. I think pressing it too much is actually bad because you need to have a certain amount of glue between the tip and the ferrule for the tip to stay.
I hope this helps.

You need

Hello I had this problem also.
All you need is TONS of glue.
They seem to drink it but as soon as i put a good amount on it never happen
again. I hope this helps.

Thanks for everyone help. I will switch my glue. I like the morri s but i'm almost ready to try something else.

I sure hope the glue is the issue. I do clean, face and sand all the areas. It almost looks like the tips sucks all the glue into it? I'll try that gel.

I had a couple of Moori tips come off when i first started installing them and I discovered a method that has worked perfectly since I started doing using it.

I prep the ferrule like normal.
Sand my tip nice and smooth, then put Loctite super glue gel on it like I was going to install it and smooth it over the whole tip, wipe the excess glue off and let it dry, sand it smooth again careful not to sand off the thin layer of glue that's on the tip, re-apply the Loctite super glue gel and install the tip.

I've never had another Moori tip come off since I started installing them this way.

It is funny you mentioned this as I have experienced the same thing. It happened when I put too much superglue on the tip. The dried glue formed a hard layer of film and will never glue again until it is removed completely. The same thing happened to me when I was doing other tips such as Talisman, Instroke, or Tiger. I do not believe it is the quality of the tip that caused the problem.
When I use the gel, I do not apply too much and I just press the tip to the ferrule and clamp. I do not press the tip real hard or bang the tip on the floor repeatedly.

You can buy the 454 from Atlas Billiards.

scc cues: Thanks for the advise.

Note to all. This only happens with the morri. All the other tips go on and stay on.

F****** tips, they are costing me a fortune! LOL.

if you put them on yourself, that is your problem. i have been using moori for the last 5 years and i have never had a tip fall off. you have to get the tip put on by a cue maker or somebody at a cue shop.

has anyone felt like there morri tips gets harder the more the play with it. I first tried a medium but not long after that it was super hard so i moved to the slow and well i haven't had too much time with it because i cant keep them glued on.

Not only have i had this problem the area cue expert (maker) has also having these issues too. I'm using my voice here as both or our experiences.

You could have ...

Just paid $10 to have a cuemaker put it on for you,
and saved all the $$$ for the types of glue you tried.

Like most tips, they have break-in periods too.
They play the best after I shave them two to three times.
They do mushroom. I don't care what anyone claims.
Any leather tip mushrooms.
I hate brand new tips. I put them on and I start bouncing the cue on the garage floor until they compress and mushroom. I then take off some the side of the tip.
Leather is leather. They are best after break-in perion imo.
