Ortmann: We Need Your Help

With the 2004 Mosconi Cup a little over a month away, preparations are well underway to make the Mosconi XI the biggest and best one yet.

Taking place from 16 - 19 December at the Hotel Zuiderduin, in Egmond aan Zee, full houses are expected as Team USA travel to Holland to defend the trophy they won so well in Las Vegas last December.

For the Europeans, it will be a golden opportunity to reclaim the cup following a magnificent team performance at the York Hall in 2002.

However, according to Euro skipper Oliver Ortmann, there will be one critical factor that will tip the scales in favour of his side - the fans.

“Let’s face it, the crowds at the York Hall were nothing short of magnificent. They put the wind up the Americans and got behind us every step of the way, said Ortmann.

“For my team, this is the best atmosphere to play in and I feel sure that with the help of the fans we can put in the type of performances that can make winning a possibility.

“I believe that the Dutch, as well as Germans, Brits and Scandinavians will be out in force in December to cheer us on to victory. The noise they make is definitely worth a few racks to us.”

With tickets for the 445 seat arena selling fast, there are several ways to purchase your seat for pool’s event of the year.

The easiest way is to click on the link on the www.mosconicup.com front page, and go to the secure ticket ordering site.

The other way is to purchase tickets in person at the following locations:
Club 8 (Amsterdam)
House of Billiards (Weert)
Dikje Duinzigt (The Hague)

Tickets are priced at €15 per session except Thursday evening and Friday afternoon which are €10. A season ticket to all seven sessions goes at €75 which represents a saving of 21%!

I think I will be going there....I hinted to my wife she should tell Santa Claus daddy needs new inspiration for pool! :)
So should everything go well...I'll get my x-mas present about week early in form of tickets. Already threated with a divorce if she doesn't deliver my message.

Mikko...who's coming from Helsinki?

Cheers,
Kimmo

What about that commentator with girlie voice? What's his name, Sid? I hope they replace him with someone who shouts less and has more knowledge.

Sid Waddell has figured in the rise of snooker, darts and now pool, and has had a lot to do with the success of Matchroom Sports in general. The enthusiasm he brings to any event is priceless. Obviously, he is not as knowledgeable as he might be, but I'd be greatly disappointed if he isn't one of the commentators. Best if he's joined by a scholar of the game in the commentary booth.

I was gonna go Berry, but couldn't when they moved the event from Vegas to Holland, it cost double to travel to Holland than Vegas. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they sell out the 445 seat arena, how many pool events have sold out with this kind of seating capacity?

@ SJM. Don't know if Sid is one of the commentators. I understoot that he was not doing the Mosconi cup 2004.

@ Sniper. To bad you are not comming to the Mosconi cup. It is indeed a long expencif flight only to see team USA lose... (LOL). About other pool events that sell the same amount of tickets I can only say that I have been to a few. But they were all Matchroom events like the World Pool Masters.
Many Europeans will come to Holland to see the action life and hopefully also some Americans will come over and root for their team.

@ Kimmo. Nice to see you there!! Let's root for our team Europe and enjoy the very high standard pool and the best atmosphere in pool you will ever see!

Regards,

Berry
