Mosconi Cup 2009 - Team Selection

Who? Shane I'm sure will be on it. I say put Dennis Hatch on.

I think Shane will be the 3 or 4 if he's not on the BCA Top 2 by then

Essentially the No 5 is dependent on a popular (read AZ) vote, I think JS would definitely win that one.. :)

One American's perspective on 8/6/09

I'm waiting to hear the details as to how Americans #3, 4 and 5 get picked, before I phone in my speculation.

Matchroom is in business to make money.

American spectators and players are "in business" to see their team win.

Who picks first, Matchroom or us? Think about how THAT might affect the outcome (I'm sure Matchroon already has).

As a sidenote: How can Matchroom - or any entity for that matter - set up voting such that the integrity of the process is beyond reproach? One American = one vote max ? One phone #'s text = one vote max? One IP address = one vote max? One mailing address? One pint of blood? One double burrito grande gets 2 votes? Good Luck...

The way I'd do it (and it by no means is 100% full proof) is make everyone create an account to login to vote, base this off their e-mail address, require them to click a link that is sent to that e-mail address and combine this with IP address logging and/or placing a cookie on each machine/browser that's already voted...well...it would be a royal pain in the butt for one person to rack up multiple votes.

Not impossible mind you...but more trouble than it's worth for something like this.

You'd really really really have to want to see a particular person get voted onto the team to mess with getting around it...and even then there would be no guarantee.

Oh...and for the record...this is for the Matchroom Sports voting or similar types of things...I would in no way shape or form condone this for anything really important like government elections...lol
