mosconi cup 2016

So for next year besides SVB Justin and Skyler who's the other 2 players any ideas.

I like to see a fan voting system for picking USA players
sort of like make it happen but the fans decide.

No points system but voting based upon real fans on who
should be shooting in this event. cause we can see how
points system doesnt mean a thing based upon performance.

I like to see SVB - Oscar Dominguez - Jeremy Sosei - J. Archer - Sky:groucho:

If they forgive R. Morris I replace Sky with Rodney

Shane
Skyler
Oscar
Jeremy
Justin

That's a good lineup IMO.

The more choices I see on the list the more desperation I feel for USA pool
How's sad is that, beside Shane I feel that nobody is really ... good enough.
Let's just face it, take a look at this 2nd European team: Mika Immonen, Thorsten Hohmann, Ralf Souquet, Daryl Peach and Mark Gray, can't beat those "experiences" right there, pressure? what lol, not to mention other youngsters but let just stick to these well-known players.
Come on USA, best country to play pool in the world, we need to win next year!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't even know the specifics of the how the team is formed, but...

I do not think that a Captain should be forced to accept even one player.

I think there should be a qualifying criteria established & the Captain selects from those that qualify but can choose to not take even the top qualifier if they do not want them for some reason.

BUT... that is not how it works.

I think we ALL need to keep in mind that this is a Barry Herns Production & he is in charge & even selects the USA Captain, etc.

This is NOT like the Rider Cup. The Mosconi Cup is NOT a real 'competition' in the real sense of the word. The Captain etc, are 'scripted' & arranged.

Yes after those are done & set then it is a 'competition'.

Right now it's a for TV audience production.

A team, like a chain, is only as strong as it's weakest link. A good person in charge does not jeopardise the team's chance for victory by having a weak link on the team.

Also one does not take ping pong players to play tennis or vise versa. The qualifying criteria should emulate the competition. How about 4 tournaments a year single elimination races to 5.

Anyway, just some thoughts.

Really??? I like Shane when he's on his own doing his thing but not Mosconi. He may have been there physically but left his game at a pool room in the US.

In reading some of the MC threads I see lots of people have named who they might like to see in 2016 and beyond. A lot of you have mentioned names like Earl, Rodney, JA,
Do the older guys even want to participate anymore?

its funny how they are asking for older guys when those guys played they got pumped 11-2 and since 09 they have had chance after chance

corey is finished now and dechaine has blew his chance again you would think
but shane keeps getting picked even though he is never above 50% but how could you not pick him

i dont like the idea but if we want to see a different winner and a real rivalry we need to let the US pick Canadian players also.

Europe teams

Albin, appleton , boyes, feijen , van den berg
immonen, souquet hohmann, gray, shaw
chinakov, grabe, alcaide, ekonompolous, peach

honorable mentions: melling, burford, skowerski, majid, hundal, ortmann

I'd like to see a team of Shane, Justin Bergman, Justin Hall, Sky, and another shot-making pro - IMO Oscar plays some of the best defense but offense is his weak suit especially on tight tables. I'd take Josh Roberts over Oscar but if Oscar made it onto the team I wouldn't complain either.

Again, I think his shot-making is a little weak but I think he can move with Europe and outsmart them.

Now... being that the Phillipines and the US are in a partnership of sorts then we should be able to get a few players from them.

If that were the case, let's make the team:

Ignacio, Biado, J Hall, J Berg, and Sky. We'd never ever ever ever lose again.

I'm sure the points system will be used again, but I think it should be used solely as a measuring stick of a players performance through the year. I don't think it's wise to have a top 3 guaranteed because we end up with players who crack like Corey and Mike.

Again, just my opinion.

Mike can get there. You might have to stick a fork in Corey.
