I feel that to be a Mosconi Cup Captain you would have to earn it and no politics or even the players should be able to decide the Captain.

Qualifications should be at least 2 out of 3 of the following

World Champion

Hall of Fame Member

U.S. open winner

Do this mean coached the above or as a player?

I wish it was taken on the above criteria by coaching, then maybe one day i will get my dream job and aim as a coach.

Many believe that the players did pick the Captain last year. I do agree with you though that the qualifications should be World Champion, Hall of Fame and a U.S Open Champ. I am not trying to think of who would even qualify for that Other than Nick Varner. Johnny Archer would also but unless its a playing Captain. Who else is there? Rempe? Hall? I am sure there are more. Good idea though. The people who would qualify have more experience in their little finger than Charlie Williams who obviously was not up to the task last year. He was around when someone won but as the team got behind he became more and more scares. Unless there was a tv camera around. my 2C

could be wrong but the winning captain this past year was none of the above?

Many may not agree, but in my mind the absolute best Mosconi Cup Captain for team USA would be Earl Strickland. He meets all of your qualifications and has that winning attitude. Team USA (whoever may comprise it) needs to be shaken up and Earl's just the man to do it. For the past few years it Team USA has not performed up to it's potential. They're not as hungry for the win as Team Europe. Earl would turn that around.

Well I think being qualified instead of politics is certainly the way it should always be.Politics is a very large problem with the downfall of American pool and what better Captain could America have than a Captain who has won the biggest tourneys and or has the most prestious award they could get the hall of fame.A few names that come to my mind are.

Buddy Hall
Jim Rempe
NickVarner
Mike Sigel
Earl Strickland
Allen Hopkins
Loree jons
Ewa Mataya
Ray Martin
Kim Davenport

Im sure I will think of a few names that I left out and will add them.

So for team USA to perform to their full potential, they need an unstable pothead who is totally unprofessional and will cause more drama and create more problems than he did when he was a player?

Well, it probably would improve the TV ratings. Let's do it!
